I visited this week, as a tourist, and was amazed to see how pristine it is. Even Backstage! I assume people work 24/7 there but are there people who work on nothing but recovery all night??

Macy’s Inc. Executive offices are on floor 13, in the 7th Avenue building. When Terry Terry Lundgren was CEO, the flagship was tired even with store renovations on six, Stella restaurant, floor 4 contemporary and 2nd women shoes/starbuck grand cafe and the center core/cosmetics. You’d find racks of clothes by 7th Ave building escalators and other customer sight lines.
Tony has put the flagship in a better position. He’s dealing with 20 years of neglect as well as the failed May Co/Macys Inc merger that should have never happened.
Lastly, herald square is always has upkeep and replenishment on after the store closes.

Guessing a Tony visit could happen at any given moment....imagine the pressure 🤔
@eg And not just Macys HQ, EVERY brands HQ is in NY. Calvin Klein or Ralph can walk in at anytime. So their store HAS to emulate the best standards of the brands.
Constant Vendor presence.
Its Unionized.
AND its closest to HQ, so Executives are there daily.
@aa i’m pretty sure the Herald Square store is no longer its own district. It’s now part of the New York Metro District.
However, I do believe each floor is still its own separate store
I went to New York to visit family during the 4th of July. I took my kids to Times Square to do some shopping. Macy’s Herald Square was closed for the fireworks show. SMH Herald Square truly operates like a seperate company. If I remember correctly, it’s in it own district with every floor having its own Store Manager, OPs, MBA, AP Etc…
