I’ve heard rumors that they are starting or have started to track how long you are connected to the internal corporate network. Has anyone heard about this? I know they can see badge swipes and internal network connection but is it true they are now monitoring how long you are connected to the internal network?

IT has been tracking what you do on your PC for years and years, well b4 AI. When you log in, log off, which apps u r using, for how long, how many keypresses in each etc. Correlate this info with gate times. What’s different now is that AI can process all of this it to do something, should the EC want to. The laws are more restrictive outside the US.
@t7 that’s my question as well, do they actually know but they need these people so they just are not firing them for now? Or if you at least log in for a few minutes they don’t look any further? Even at 4 hours a day how is that ok by RTO standards? It’s so annoying, being in that office more days a week than I/we did pre-covid is so pointless. Not even enough seats for people. Raises are a JOKE especially with inflation and gas prices, it’s all so disheartening.
They were tracking IP connections long before there was AI at the bank

I try to stay at least 4 hours in the office to avoid this issue - I really hate being in the office 4 days a week.

@ra not good at all, the only way to beat them at this game is not logging in for early for meetings or helping offshore. Come in regular time let offshore defend for itself and fail
What a sad state of affairs, we are discussing about hrs worked instead of impact and getting work done.. of course cofee badging over a long period is an issue but then how do you segregate folks logging in at 6 am attending calls to be good team mates for our offshore team, finishing off handover and coming to office at 11 after 2 hrs of commute and the leaving at 4 pm to login back at 7 pm from home to wrap up leftovers for the day? The whole RTO thing is crazy and at BNY it is insane

Why would anyone at BNY work after 6PM?; even at the top levels, people do not earn enough to require such commitment.
If they are tracking that, why haven’t ppl been let go for RTO non compliance ?
Those of us who work until “whenever we are done” which is usually 7 pm or as late as midnight or sometimes later are allowed to leave at lunch. It is been approved by many levels above. Don’t let your jealously ruin it for us. I’d much rather stay all day if I was done by 5 pm.
Maybe they can start compensating us for when we work after hours on top of the hours we waste in office and commute..
I’m honestly baffled at what the criteria even is, because we’ve got two people in our office who breeze in for maybe three hours in the afternoon — max — and they’ve been doing that for over a year. No issues, no consequences, still happily employed. So… what exactly is the rule here?
So are they firing people for being in office less than 8 hours a day?
They don't need AI for that
They were doing this when I worked there 1.5 years ago. That is how they got one of my people and forced me to rif them
@OP Yes this has been going on for quite some time now. This is how they monitor if an employee is coffee-badging.
Have been for years. Officially, HR claims they're not using it to determine layoffs, but you'd need to be an id--t to believe that. Especially after the coffee badging purge.
