Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

RTO Email

So…. Thoughts on the RTO expectations that shake out to 3/4 times per week? In case you didn’t see: 14 days per month. 4 days have to be M or F.

@me+1m1mc3ff8 nobody is being asked to sign anything? And how do you figure its illegal to have EE's RTO?! We were all in office before covid. 🙄

@13t Truth. Have never heard an executive level say a nice thing about her.

@11f Yes. Pepsico is a “global company” and you see that transition of power to global since Ramon took over. Athina, Jane, G-yatri and the list goes on and on and on. The US is not a focus, just listen to the quarterly report calls. They are selling the street on global growth. But clearly at the cost of U.S. business. Also, has anyone said a good thing about Athina? How she is still employees is a clear indicator of poor leadership. She would rather sell of the company in bits and pieces than actually build it stronger. Haven’t seen a single initiative she has led be successful in reality. Typical consultant. Talks big, delegates the actual work and doesn’t know how the business actually runs.

But if you can beat them, might as well join them. Maybe we can get ai to replace her. She would have to agree to that. It is an easy million dollars salary savings and the long term gain of not having her would save us a billion over the next 4 years.

@OP We are expected to collaborate remotely with other Countries across inverse timezones while we cannot collaborate locally? How absurd can we get?

It’s so unfair. If you’re out in the field, you can visit a store and get credit for being in the market, but if you work at one of the so-called prison camps—uh, I mean headquarters—you have to report it.

PEP will arrange it so none of you will ever need to come to the office again, then you can stay at home all day and won't have the hassle of pretending you're working. You will have all the time in the world to do life's chores that you used to do on PEP's time.

COVID was almost 7 years ago. Get over it. I already go into the office 4 days a week. Get a lot done and good to catch up with others in person. What major company still allows you to fully WFH??

@j6 Same situation. Also, I am extending my workday more than I should because I am at home. If I am forced to go to office, with a 2h commute (4h in total), that will have to end and my productivity will decline that's for sure.

I won't sign anything before asking a lawyer first. This doesn't make sense and also it's probably illegal in some countries.

Also, I won't comply if possible. I am fed up with this corporate BS and I am pretty sure there are better jobs out there.

My manager and peers are all in another country, and several of them have approved exceptions to work remotely. Coming into an office 14 days a month will not improve my collaboration; I'll be on the same Teams calls with people on the other side of the world, just with a required commute.

When I ask for funding to go see them in person, the answer is that there's no budget.

No budget for the collaboration that works. A mandate for the one that doesn't

@fp The ones who have been here for awhile told me PEP was once a great employer with a great culture.

@dx you are 100% correct. The office is like a ghost town most days of the week. You can tell who's been there for a long time, they seem to be the most miserable, staring at the same powerpoint for hours, no interaction with co-workers, and then "sneaking" out a little after 3pm. Very disappointed in PepsiCo as a company. I was sold pure BS during the interview process. It is such a miserable atmosphere.

every offsite was either virtual or cancelled, no travel for our team unless your leadership and feel like going to the f1 races (not actually those who worked on the project) no commitment to culture but then we get an email like this one. What is going on?

You should all be in 4 days a week . Then PepsiCo can see how little many of you contribute from home . Then they can lay you off .

Workforce reduction strategy. Layoffs, VRP, cut benefits and make them leave. The comp policy has already included weak raises. The cost cutting has made getting customer management very difficult and lowered efficiency.
I would right size your commitment and productivity to what your are receiving in from the company in return.

Psychological warfare, to do this before a holiday weekend and before many colleagues have to send their children back to school next week.

I for one have had enough with AK and RL. Especially over this past year of nonstop pointing fingers rather than taking accountability, (but gazpacho in the USA will definitely provide a turnaround!!!) never thought a snack and beverages company would be this toxic

Can’t wait to drive into Purchase HQ for an hour each way just to sit on MS Teams calls all day in the middle of a seating arrangement that feels like a college library with how quiet and little human interaction there is, how impersonal

Go fu-k yourself AK

@dd it shows they have lack of confidence to bring in talent that can deliver. Our top talent is driving growth in other companies.

The most ridiculous and incompetent thing to do was to give the keys to the most incompetent person who is a misfit and have zero knowledge or vision.

BOD must fire Ramon and AK. House cleaning must start on the top.

It is a correct assessment. Look at RTO. Give us desks to come to. Every week to look for desks is beyond nonsense.

@OP they sent this because they want people to leave… people who quit, they don’t have to cut and pay severence and benefits. I thought this was tonedeaf until I realized this is what they WANT. Make you as uncomfortable as possible until you leave. The stock su-ks because THEY su-k. Especially Athina. They handed her the keys to the castle and now the castle is burning. She’s not a leader, she’s a consultant and how she’s now managing an operating unit at a fortune 50 is insane. Get rid of the bad at the top.

Do these geniuses understand there are not enough desks at the OPO to accommodate everyone due to them cutting the originally planned number based on what else - working remotely? Added COVID is surging again nationwide so with the cramped open seating layout - things should get really productive when half the place is out sick in November. Then of course, as many have added - collaborate with who? Your outsourced colleagues in Gurgaon or Mexico City on Teams? What about “PEP+” and reduced impact on the environment. The pack running this place aren’t qualified to run a NYC street food cart - how the f*ck are they still running a nearly 100 billion dollar business!

Complete dipsh-ts running this organization. Mandate RTO for “collaboration” meanwhile we will continue to outsource key support roles to India, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Philippines.

@a9 I told my boss .. this is a perfect work life balance after I clock out, see you next day. Not to expect extra effort.
It is a two way street.
AK can't save herself being replaced by Claude which has better judgement, coherency and intellect.
Not worth the effort.
When we think we have hit the bottom, they are able to dig another feet more deeper. Just phenomenal..
Check in check out. Perfect balance.
