The disorganization, the conflicting priorities, and the complete lack of direction make it seem like I'm watching a ship take on water and keep sailing anyway. Is this just how all corporations work? Because if so, we're in trouble.

We are definitely in trouble.
I’m leaving the company after almost 16 years, and I have to agree—the company has been a mess for years. There are way too many people sitting up top making decisions and not nearly enough people in the stores to actually handle the workload. You can see the same thing happening across retail, and honestly, Belk doesn’t look much better. Stores are understaffed, merchandise and presentation have declined, and the customer experience just isn’t what it used to be. It’s sad watching companies that once had a strong reputation lose what made them great. Retail is changing, but some of these companies are making it worse instead of better.
