Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

I have exceed rating for past few years but got displaced

Possible reasons:

  • not in a hub location
  • not in the same location with manger and the team
  • high title, high salaries

All but one of those is pretty avoidable, but I do admit that it's a bad assumption that people earning a lot of money know what to do with it.

@c7 true. Folks without good rating can be terminated.

You get displaced because you have those ratings. Otherwise you will get terminated.

@OP Sorry this happened to you. Luck of the AI draw. I was displaced 3 days after getting my 'Exceeds' rating along with new responsibilities, talk of a promotion and my compensation meeting on the calendar. They DGAF!

@ac Guess that you are assuming that even with their compensation range being $200k - $300k/yr that they aren't paying off a mountain of debt, student loans, college for the kids, unplanned medical expenses, etc.

The supposed "exceed" employees think they are above the law.

I have just resigned myself to the fact of when it's your time - it's your time and nothing you do can change that.

I used to come in early, stay late, work extra but when you see people who did the same still get laid off it doesnt make sense anymore to work that way. Now I just come in and do my best for the 8 hours I am required to be here and then go home and enjoy the things that really matter.

The excuses vary from employee to employee, but in the end we all "go". At least with a $300k income you've been able to amass millions in savings/investments and can now sail off into the sunset of retirement.

Very sorry to hear. Performance should not be a factor in a true layoff scenario. Location, the type of work performed, salary level are most likely the factors. Sad when solid and top performers are lost. Best of luck.

ugh so sorry that happened. ratings aren't supposed to be relevant when it comes to displacements so yeah it was probably those other things, or they just decided they don't need that position anymore. unfortunately they don't care about the company or customers, just want people gone to improve the efficiency ratio. best of luck to you.
