@2hk

The official cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) increase for Social Security and federal benefits in 2026 is 2.8%.

Hope everyone is enjoying their ramen, and that walk to work.

2%... it'd be funny if it wasn't so sad.

Get rid of the RMs, the MLs are doing their job anyway and are more effective.

It’s not just VP’s who essentially steal money. Poll the field and see how many would vouch for their RM. The main job of a regional manager is not to be a mini GVP. It’s to lead and inspire. Be the opposite of what OTC is.

This company needs a factory reset in field leadership. I’ve been here ten years and it’s the lowest morale I’ve ever seen.

But...but...more Senior VPs.
Gotta pay for them somehow.

2% indeed...wtf?

Yeah, but don't forget the 2% merit increase...what an absolute joke!

  • Related question: why did I just get screamed at by a student because I had to close the doors long enough to take a bathroom break?*

So the big shots in the Ivory Tower can claim success, collect their bonus checks and abuse you for not doing your job?

@1eg Genuine question, how is the current cost cutting strategy actually helping the company? Is leadership aware that running lean on staff tends to lower the quality of work, and they've decided the better margins are worth it? It seems counterintuitive when it may be costing us business. Is this just an accepted trade-off in this industry?

Those ex cvs employees saved your company :)

It took a random Market Leader to tell our fearless leader what a mess Shopify was. Why is that? Because our company is filled with id--tic yes men who will say anything to keep their job. Seriously embarrassing.

It’s hilarious reading the same 6 people post on slack about awesome everything is. We see you. Your team resents you. You are a leader of nobody.

We are supposed to have a voice. We’re supposed to be able to ask our VP’s anything. But whatever you do, don’t ask them to reach into their pockets and pay the field who’ve been busting their a-s fixing their mistakes. No, no… they have to hoard that money for all the ex CVS and Macy’s employees who aren’t even smart enough to tie our GD shoes.

Follett. Home of the imaginary brass ring.

@1ah they were warned by the former cio who wanted an extended test at a single store to run a complete school year so as to identify and resolve fundamental plus volume spike related special shipping but when no buy in came from the necessary PE and EC leadership saw the train wreck coming and jumped ship.

@a4 Seems like they tried to do too much without running a smaller test group until all the bugs were worked out. I would be willing to bet they were warned.

@kg Blame-shifting is a symptom of a toxic work environment. As is bullying, intimidation, disrespect, and refusal to listen to feedback or input.

When the Follett family gave up on Higher Ed you knew the business wasn't sustainable. JRC made a bad investment and the people in the field, the profit centers, will take the blame. Do more with less and be blamed by the leadership at OTC.

@f9

We are all replaceable. They termed 60% of the people who knew this business the best a few years ago. We already rely heavily on temporary workers. OTC does not care about the field or else they would have acknowledged and fully owned those Gallup results.

@f8 2 people in my network resigned recently and I know a couple more who are actively looking. And that’s just my little corner of the org. Makes you wonder how the company is actually doing and how many more we lose. The people who stay end up absorbing the extra work, which pushes them out too…

@f3 the real question is how many store employees is it gonna cost all of the stores come the end of rush.

It's an absolute clusterf*ck...whoever thought it was a good idea should be fired...no matter how far up the ladder they are.
Our CM3 is already concerned about Spring...no confidence in them getting it squared away.
