Like Looking into a Mirror from 10 Years ago

I was trying to click on Elevance Health because they, along with other of Cigna’s competitors, seem to be going through almost exactly same challenges Cigna is.

Well, I accidentally clicked on Emblem Health, instead of Elevance, and their last post thread entries were from 2016 and they were saying and complaining about the very exact same thing as us…about the offshoring to India and Philippines, about the CEO laying people off to raise stock price and to line executive’s pockets, etc., etc. etc. It was like looking in a mirror and we are talking back 10 years ago.

The last post entries on the Emblem Health Layoff site ended after 2016 so I can only think the company went under.

Anyway, scary stuff!

@ad You are correct. Emblem brought in TPA Cognizant and moved all of their membership to Cogniznt's systems and then outsourced a ton of their work to the Indian staff. They wiped out tons of long time Emblem staff in their New York office. They also had an upstate NY office and got rid of people there too. Emblem also owned ConnectiCare in Farmington CT and did the same thing to them and moved all their membership to Cognizant systems as well. They kept a small department of Call Center staff to keep taking member calls in CT so that it wouldn't be as visible to members and local companies who they sold insurance to. You are spot on. It's similar to what happened to Cigna back in 2005 ish I believe.

@ad Cigna has been outsourcing since early 2004 or 2005. This is nothing new. It’s been going on for 20 years. Slowly displacing us based workers. The Philippines, Jamaica, Costa Rica, India.

Point is, if you go over to Emblem’s layoff page, you will see this displacing American workers for foreign workers has been going on for over 10 years, UNCHECKED.

Ahhhhh. Maybe google can be your friend. Emblem Health is alive and well and living in New York. And they use the Cigna provider network for members that travel outside of New York.

Plus years. I am sorry you are now being impacted. Tech has been well behind operations. Cigna will keep thriving.
