Thread regarding Phillips 66 layoffs

Supervision Control Center

Since nothing else works and they are more worried about what’s on this website? Will someone please let the leaders of P66 know that the supervisors in the control center or never at work and if they do show up it’s only for a couple hours at a time it’s been like this for past year.

@2q6 Ignorance and bias oozes from your post. Condemning an entire generation based on anecdotes and unsupported accusations, while lecturing others about competence and clear communication, is a contradiction all its own. You definitely have the GO!

@2vm So it makes it right that a person in a management position would do something like this? What is going on over there?

@2v9 and then you said no harm when he apologized to you and then you lied about operations and got yourself fired…only after you hoarded company snacks in your locker…move along.

History Lesson: Several years ago the pipeline controller position required several years of field experience, an understanding of pipeline measurement, pipeline equipment, theory of hydraulics, etc. There was a series of computer based training modules and monitored testing. Completion of this series was also required to apply for a pipeline controller position. HR, in their infinite wisdom, decided they could save money by making the position entry level with almost no requirements for applicants.
Today, all of those who met the previous requirements (including supervision and management) have retired, leaving only what you see here.
This newest generation of PC’s have been known to cyber stalk anyone in the company by reviewing and sharing any publicly available social media, befriending others to access private social media accounts, and searching for any online court records, archived local news articles, etc. They have been known (as proven here) to stalk people and photograph them in the parking lot, on their vacations, and at their homes, or even family events. They then exaggerate or fabricate stories and spread lies and half-truths, again as demonstrated here, as well as the eternally long list of HR Ethic violations they continually report. As soon as they get someone pushed out or pressured into leaving, they apply for the position and wonder why they never get a promotion. They file complaint after complaint so they always have a recent complaint and can claim retaliation for any discipline, all the while continuing to be the lowest performers. Obviously the stalking not limited to those in supervisor roles, but anyone in engineering, SCADA, and even scheduling and other peripheral positions.
This position would be one interviewed by regulators in the event of a pipeline release, and during an internal investigation of one such incident the PC interviewed stated they did not know that a booster was a booster pump.
As clear and concise written and verbal communication is a regulatory requirement, the current management should ensure demonstration of that ability is evaluated at year end and those who clearly lack in this area should be removed from duty. HR should seriously reconsider the requirements for this role. You get what you pay for, and it’s never been more obvious than it is in these remarks.

@1wt it’s very interesting. You’re so wrapped up and telling us to shut the F up. Maybe you’re a supervisor maybe not maybe we’ve reached out to everyone that we could including HR and they don’t do their job. Maybe there has been things documented that gets hidden or pushed under the rug maybe you’re part of the problem. The fact is I didn’t look at the pictures but everybody around me that was looking at the pictures could see her face while he was exposing her breasts using his personal cell phone so maybe you should shut the F up and let us reach out for the help we need to get better leadership. We’re not surrounded by intoxicated supervisors.

@1wf The irony here is impressive. You wrote an entire post condemning baseless accusations while making one unsupported allegation after another about controllers, anonymous reports, people’s motives, careers being ruined, and even a future move to Houston.

Apparently “have proof or shut the F up” only applies to everyone else. You are obviously part of the problem and validated it flawlessly. I hope you at least thanked ChatGBT!

Dear BCC Pipeline Controllers,
I would like to supply a bit of career advice. As a supervisor outside of the control room working in Bartlesville; when asked if an opening in my org can be filled with a controller, my answer has always been and will always be an immediate and emphatic ’No’. Why? Because everyone in Bartlesville knows that no-one in that role seems to be able to rise above the habit of spreading baseless accusations about their supervisor but even more enthusiastically about other supervisors in the room. I mean everyone is aware of the private ‘controllers only’ FB group that gets screenshot occasionally and sent to supervisors. Why would I want to move that into my organization and subject myself to dealing with that drama? I’ve personally witnessed some of these unfounded, baseless accusations be made through the “anonymous” line resulting in lengthy HR investigations to the nth degree. These reports resulted in impacts to people’s personal as well as work lives, and ultimately the end of employment or careers with some being fired, “layed off”, or even being pushed into another role. Most of these accusations had no actual proof of any wrongdoing, just something overheard out of context, something someone else claimed they heard/saw, or just completely made up to get attention.
Posting unfounded claims here for entertainment only seals the fate of everyone in the controller role to spend their entire career doing shift work, or better yet, moving the whole thing to the vast empty space they cleared out on the 4th floor in Houston just so someone can keep a closer eye on it. They could get rid of most of the trash talk and drama by just moving it to Houston and not offering move assistance for the hourly job. So here’s my career advice — unless you have proof of someone posting videos to YouTube while on shift, or you have text, emails, or photos sent to you, or you actually saw something with your own eyes and can identify someone’s bo--s by a hidden tattoo or mole, just shut the F up.
If you do have proof, report it using the anonymous line and keep your mouth shut because even if it’s investigated and found to be unfounded you are ruining not only the career of the supervisor, but also their family, and everyone else caught up in it - the way HR investigates, that part is guaranteed… guilty until proven otherwise. Your post doesn’t belong here, this is for layoff rumors, which I guess will happen when they start believing all this nonsense and move to HTX.

@14m since this has been brought up and this is the talk of the controllers. I will say about 2-3 years ago myself and one other female reported a former lead now in SCADA was walking around showing pictures of his wifes breasts to several male controllers. It made us feel very uncomfortable. It was reported and nothing. Absolutely nothing happened. It even got worse when he began taking photographs of his fe--s and texting it to controllers. Then he promoted over to SCADA. And because he was a favorite we were wronged for reporting the gross misconduct

@vm I can confirm they are not taken seriously and that reports are NOT confidential. You will be FIRED for making a report. It will take 6-7 months to get past the waiting period so they can claim it is not related but they will certainly rid themselves of you, even if the allegations are true

@qz, it may be different at the Control Center but I don’t think ethic concerns are a priority here at the Borger Refinery.
I don’t think reports are kept confidential either.

Ya, managers and supervisors in Phillips control rooms are overall deficient. There are a couple, and I say that loosely, that are strong leaders. Just remember the few that are adequate are surrounded by losers and therefore can’t be their best or they’ll be considered a threat and pushed out. Typical toilet bowl situation here at destination fu---d

First, if you're complaining about your supervisor and are writing in sentence fragments, mispellings and improper grammer, it subtracts credibilty from your accusations and just makes you seem vindictive.
Second, if you have ethics concerns, there's an anonymous internal reporting pathway.

Lets not forget to mention the “friendships” that supervisors have with their staff. Drinking and partying then throw a vacation in there. Highly inappropriate. Our supervisor came from scheduling knows absolutely nothing about being a supervisor! Is also an alcoholic and takes an employee on vacation. This place needs leadership so bad

Promotion only if you have direct reports - 1 time only! Even if you absorb projects, someone else’s job, or happen to be in a group that’s just straight up not valued good luck getting anything higher than SGL 16. Gotta be part of the “in” crowd.

Can’t wait for the rollout of our new development opportunities.. make sure to check the box that says “external”.
