We had a great manager who was knowledgeable, supportive, and respected. They forced him out and now we have a credit-stealing dolt. Can somebody explain to me why this was done? Because I certainly can't figure this stupidity out.

@2j6 this goes back to the concept that they can assign anyone to anything - having someone who actually KNOWS the systems/processes they are supporting is somehow "outdated thinking" to this regime. They want to throw anyone at anything without any training and no baseline understanding of process/data. He-l there are people supporting ERP platforms that have never even seen SAP nor been trained on it. The concept is that the business should own that and CG or Open Text or HP or whoever owns the technology stack owns the delivery and IT is just project leading. Once they decided to outsource tech support BD lost its abilities to create/challenge design. They think the business excellence people can do that but the real business folks have all been replaced by these "excellence" people suffering the same problem - they've been thrown into areas they have no expertise in and behave like they do for survival. Those that know anything are forced out, leave because they are undervalued and sick of being sh-t upon. It's a spiraling load of horsesh-t spewing onto everything.

@2dd couldn’t have said it better.. director level leading a meeting I was in who had absolutely no idea what they were even asking .. they were so clueless that it was embarrassing..
@295 Tech world changes at a breakneck pace. You need people who can let go of outdated thinking, learn new things quickly, and actually lead through constant change. Instead, we’ve got people who lack basic technical skills and, in some cases, don’t seem to have much leadership ability either. I’d honestly be impressed if IT could deliver anything with decent quality and without a pile of excuses behind it.
BD has one of the weakest IT organizations I’ve seen in my entire career. The lack of competence is bad enough, but the shameless nepotism makes the whole situation even worse.
@220 This is very true. All of BD IT should be outsourced and its use should be strictly limited. BD’s IT org is by far the weakest I’ve ever been a part of and I’ve worked in many. Instead of investing in talent, they collect kickbacks from vendors and fund unnecessary trips that serve no purpose other than to enable the leeches to collect frequent flyer miles. Leaving BD IT salvaged my career.
@aa I’ve heard this is very common in IT. Since IT can’t deliver anything for us, we started taking care of our own IT needs, and honestly, we’re much happier that way. IT seems to be full of people with big titles and very little actual knowledge.
my personal observation is that whenever a new initiative (that makes no sense) is introduced and the people who are aware that the new initiative makes no sense attempt to gain clarity or correct assumptions, they are blacklisted. In the addled minds of this management regime there is always a way to make things work and anyone who can't see it is just dead weight. Then of course the initiative goes live and the problems start - so they rip out the initiative because they've already let the only people who know why it failed go. Over and over and over again. BD is circling the drain....if you have integrity, leave.
This is exactly what happened in RxAuto. And now those eliminated positions where they laid people off are being posted as open positions in Durham. Beware. Leaders there are thinking they are so clever. I wonder if these leaders will ever share the results of the recent employee survey! Bet the survey results were bad, yet the leaders aren't the problem. Laughable.
@am this post was for a department but should be common across all departments/ functions. BD is a dysfunctional organization.

@OP anyone challenging self-centered, low-IQ, low-morale , highly corrupt ‘leadership’ will have the same fate. There are many examples like that.
You already listed the reasons; since top level is all corrupt ( almost zero exception), that is what will happen with all other knowledgeable, honest and well respected folks in BD.
