Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

So shareholders…

I get it. You want to sell the company. Typical pattern. Reduce staff to a minimum. Cut every cost possible. Move all actual work offshore. Make it look very attractive to potential buyers.
So how attractive would a company look when it’s customers disappear, because they can’t get service, because the employees can’t use their machines, because their CTO displaced ALL of the Technology people it depended on, to manage the sole application that images those devices?

Wave is available to most users, but they refuse to use it. You could force them, but then you’d drive capacity over the edge. Not to mention the huge licensing cost and security risks with BYOD

I don’t know whom needs to hear this today but men are not attracted to masculine women.

@1xqp+1lNaduY9 That you Saul? Have another sip of coffee. It might help you form more coherent thoughts and come up with some intelligible sentences.

For those not in a tech job, especially operations and support roles, a bit of perspective. We are treated as though any mistakes we make could be catastrophic to the business. There is completely insane over the top change control for even the simplest of tasks. We are simply not allowed to be professionals in our areas of expertise. There is no trust, yet we take all the same ethics courses that financial pros have to take.

And yet, we see the business side make one legal mistake after another, conning customers, etc. These financial pros are doing this on top of the systems we keep up and running.

You can diminish us Geek Squad people all you want, but we operate with honesty, we fix things. Management expects us to be squeaky clean. Doubt you'll see us making headlines for the bank in a negative way.

Sounds like we are important enough if you ask me.

Let me guess, you are one of the COSMIC engineers that was laid off. You incessantly harp on it.

It is a desktop product. Desktop tech is the bottom end of the IT totem poll. If high school kids can work the Geek Squad imagining desktops, there has to be people at Wells Fargo.

If anything, the poorly implemented VDI solution shows why desktop techs are bottom of the barrel.

Having a multitude of desktop images in the first place is why the desktop people can't be trusted.

It introduces needless complexity. Complexity they apparently don't have much brains to manage

How would WF be attractive to a potential buyer right now? The management is absolutely ABYSMAL. Return on assets and return on equity is absolutely fu----g TERRIBLE for a big bank. We still have an asset cap and there’s no end in sight for it plus tons of legacy stuff that Charlie has made zero progress on.

The traditional pillars of WF success are being cut and dismantled (mortgage).

The stock has collapsed. The staff is demoralized.

But the handpicked elites in Hudson Yards are happy I guess?
