Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Grass greener?

Been thinking about exploring the market for a new role but wondering now if it's better to just stay here in a chill work life but layoff looming or continue searching and go elsewhere.

@cd so the techno gurus want to avoid panic next year but there will be less panic the year after when the drastic cuts finally come... That seems logical.

Or, there will be panic when the stock market driven by the AI finally crashes and trillions evaporate in the thin air? Guess what's more likely given that the last time the stock market significantly crashed was 18 years ago..

Grass is definitely greener for sure. I always thought that I would be a V-Teamer for life. I'm glad I am no longer with them. VZ has shown its true colors numerous times and I always just ignored it.

What I would recommend is to look for a more stable industry, not necessarily a tech company or another telecom company, I guess this really depends on your job role. I've never been happier.

Everywhere in tech is laying off and will be amping it up more aggressively but not en masse to avoid panic over the next year then drastically after.

Should I stay, or should I go now?
If I go, there will be trouble
And if I stay, it will be double
So come on and let me know

The market in general is pretty brutal. But honestly, what is the worst that can happen?

Fix up your resume - pay for a service to really get it ready and AI proof as much as possible. Post for looks like a good fit.

Worst case - your resume is ready and sharp. If you get interviews, gain experience there.
Best case - you land a job that is better.

The only thing you are really loosing is time.

If you do not have bills, or dependents and your say under 27. I would get out of here. The industry is obviously saturated, and there is no real competition between the three networks that form that saturation. In other words no meaningful growth in the business. Despite massive net incomes of all three EUTRAN operators, none of them have a culture and leadership that understands how to expand scope to scale horizontally. So the industry is static. If your young your likely not making much here. If your skilled you can likely make more elsewhere

@b1
And you may ask yourself, "Well, how did I get here?"
Letting the days go by...

...Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
Same as it ever was, same as it ever was
