Thread regarding VISA Inc. layoffs

The Writing is On the Wall

Whatever you just saw was 7%. No where is that anywhere near enough for whatever Visa is trying to achieve as part of the 2030 strategy that is constantly being touted.

Layoffs will be an annual strategy moving forward. More offshoring to lower cost regions like Poland. For those teams with sister teams in lower cost regions, you're merely training your future replacements.

By the time Ryan and Rajat leave the company, Visa will be a shell of its former self, and they'll just point to CBDCs as the cause instead of take accountability for their actions.

Labor arbitrage is the only lever that Rajat can manufacture. Polands reaction to a couple of roles is the same one Singapore had a decades ago when the layoff train started under RT’s lead. As a shareholder, I would feel so much better knowing that revenue was growing due to new business and services vs paying out severance packages and salary reductions.

Actually in Poland we will also have layoffs, but according to law company have first announce it 20 days before and have employees consultations.
But it was already confirmed that we will have it, but not yet sure how many of us will be fired.

I get the frustration, but your point about Poland is a decade out of date. While average UK tech salaries are still slightly higher, the gap has closed significantly. If Visa just wanted bottom-dollar labor, India is still the go-to for that massive salary gap. They might be saving on corporate taxes or overhead in Poland (a different discussion), but they aren’t replacing teams with cheap engineering labor over there anymore.
