This 40:30:30 formula outlines a drastic restructuring of Verizon’s Global Technology Services (GTS) department. If you are currently working within Verizon GTS, this framework details exactly how the organization plans to split the current headcount as part of its ongoing cost-cutting and workforce reductions. [1, 2, 3, 4]
The three-way split translates to the following immediate impacts:
## Breakdown of the 40:30:30 Split

  • 40% Outsourced to Vendor (Rebadging): This portion of the workforce will be transitioned over to a third-party IT vendor or managed service provider (e.g., similar to historical transitions to vendors like Infosys). Affected employees usually have their jobs transferred ("rebadged"), meaning they do the same work but under a new employer's payroll. [5, 6]
  • 30% Layoff in August: This represents a direct, permanent headcount reduction taking place in August. Impacted corporate and IT employees will be let go from the company entirely and will typically be offered a corporate severance package. [2, 7, 8]
  • 30% Retained for Critical Projects: Only a minority of the workforce will remain directly employed by Verizon within GTS. These employees will stay internal to oversee core infrastructure, maintain system stability, and direct high-priority critical projects.

Those are bold targets, esp the 30% layoff.
