There are more than 20 of us working together on a major project. Many of us are either away on business trips at the weekends conducting client testing or staying overnight at the factory for trial runs. The project manager has been promoted twice in the space of three years, whilst many other staff members have not even received a 3 per cent pay rise.

I have seen this happen many times throughout my career at 3M. Sometimes it is the team leader, other times it is a lazy team member. They attend meetings, learn what was done, "borrow" prototypes, then while everyone else is busy working the credit taker runs to the manager/director, shows him the prototype and team results and claims he did it all. The boss believes the lies since those lies are typically accompanied by showers of praise for the egotistic boss, and viola, the credit stealer gets the promotion and the worker bees get nothing.
@aq its very common in 3M. Look around those VPs and Directors. This is how they climbed up
Being there, just taking other people's work, reported to the uplevel boss, and then got promoted
Maybe can ask for Everyday win points from the manager?
