Some naive IBM employees were fooled into filing ideas to be submitted as IBM patents for peanuts. Many employees used the incentive to game the system and file garbage patents.
The few good ones paid to enrich the cheaters. It is sad.
Hopefully there is a constant stream of revenue for the IP bucket It is kinda amazing how often the CEO within IBM gets the “next” shiny object wrong

I can't remember the last time a client mentioned Blockchain to me as something they were interested in. It's been several years at least.
Did Arvind love the blockchain? Praised it as the next big thing?
