Thread regarding Elevance Health (Anthem) layoffs

People are running on fumes

The workload keeps growing, and the support keeps shrinking. I haven't seen a single meaningful change that would improve things in years. How are we supposed to keep working when we're all literally burning the candle at both ends?

@f2, look it up in Merriam-Webster. It literally means both things now.

@f2 seeing as how when it comes to future layoffs, we are all literally sitting ducks, we have been literally searching the dictionary night and day to try and fine the meaning to the word “literally.” But we are ducks and unfortunately unable to do that.

@f2 Just add a little levity, I suppose it is possible that everyone he knows each has a candlestick and are actually burning it at both ends. Lol.

I must say, when I read that post, my eyeballs literally popped out of my head! Now, will someone please help me find them? Just kidding!

@OP I literally don't think you understand the meaning of the word literally.😉

@OP That is why they are telling everyone to update their emergency contacts. They want to know who to call to remove the dead body when you die at your desk or who to call when you don't show up because the job has put you in the hospital so ill that you can't make a phone call to your boss. Either result, the company will replace you immediately. They don't care about you or your family.

They wouldn't care if you died at your desk.
You'd be thrown in the hearse and your work would be pushed on to someone else by the next morning.

The workload does NOT belong to you - it is assigned to you and your responsibility is to do your job for your allotted daily shift, meet your metrics and clock out at the end of your shift. It is not your responsibility to do the work of more than one person. If you are meeting your metric you are in the good. Of course they can RIF you but guess what you can ki-l yourself and work your azz off, try to empty a full bucket with a hole in the bottom and still get Rif'd.

Stop -

I don't understand this strategy at all. We will all work for Carelon soon if we survive these never ending RIFs. If I didn't love my direct manager I'd be long gone!
