Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

At this point, anything is better than working at DXC

Dishwasher. Call center rep. Fast food cashier. Literally anything sounds better than another day here.

@ah This is genius. I have further discovered what makes the share price go up and intend to do more of it because that's all that's important. I've found doing absolutely nothing this week has added significantly to the share price. Nothing can go wrong, and nobody can complain it's not what they wanted. We have delivered complete stability, and customers love it.

At this point, anything is better than working at DXC? Dishwasher, call center rep, fast food cashier? I have to disagree. Those jobs have one major weakness: people actually know what they are supposed to do. That level of clarity is clearly not for everyone.

At DXC, we have built something much more advanced. We have created a place where everyone is busy but nobody is completely sure what we are delivering, who owns it or what delivered looks like. Why waste time on simple things like clear goals and execution when we can have meetings about meetings, strategy slides about strategy and transformation programs about transformation programs?

This is the future of corporate leadership. Strategic ambiguity is the ultimate competitive advantage.

Why limit ourselves to one direction when we can keep every option open forever? Why commit to outcomes when we can create excitement through endless possibilities? By keeping priorities flexible we ensure that every new challenge becomes an opportunity to redefine the plan. In a world where everyone else is rushing to deliver, we have discovered the power of waiting and aligning until the perfect moment arrives.

Employees should embrace this approach. Stop asking “What is the plan?” and start asking “How can I create a 20 slide presentation about why we need a plan?” Strategic ambiguity is not confusion. Strategic ambiguity is freedom. It means every person can become the CEO of their own imaginary roadmap. The future belongs to those who can confidently explain progress without anyone being able to explain what progress actually means.

The real winners in this model are the people who master the art of sounding confident while saying absolutely nothing. They know that the secret to success is not delivering results, it is creating the impression that results are just around the corner. Every unanswered question is a leadership opportunity. Every delay is a careful decision. Every lack of direction is a bold new strategy waiting to be explained at the next all-hands meeting.

So do not worry about what we are building, who the customer is or what problem we are solving. Those details only slow down innovation. Trust the process, trust the slides and most importantly, trust that someone will eventually schedule a meeting to discuss creating a framework for finding the answer.
