Starlink is GLOBAL revenue and its subscriber numbers will continue to surpass T. There is ZERO chance that T's fiber investment will be able to compete. That is the hard truth and layoffs WILL continue. You can NOT compete with a global market after you spent decades outsourcing your labor and support to India. You need to get the word GLOBAL in your head when you think about subscriber potential . T is a has dying has been.

The question is does Starlink allow the government to track your device 24/7 and the answer is clearly yes.

T is getting smaller and smaller (head count wise) so there is going to be a day that T going under will not create that big of a wave other than media talking about how a 150 YO company went bye-bye, kind of like Sears. Spacex is going to start buying spectrum and fiber so all of a sudden there will be another much more funding to either drive up the price of the network or outbid us for the network.

I'll pick the company that draws taxable revenue on a global scale, over one that has sent American jobs outside the US and was involved in the H1B scams. I've been working in Washington to get this word out, and I already know the AT&T lobby is trying to downplay these facts.
The only thing about this that matters is subscriber numbers. Starlink has 9million customers, we have 11million.
At some point Starlink will surpass our fiber penetration, but all broadband providers will lose. Its the day wireless subs go down that T will get nervous.

Starlink is the excuse we’ve been looking for to convince the fcc we don’t need to provide copper services in rural America. Now we’re disconnecting all that copper and associated labor and power expense as we speak. Well probably benefit from starlink instead of being hurt. The laws of physics don’t change when it comes to radio frequencies. Our cellular network combined with our fiber network is better and the bill is cheaper than starlink even with the V3 satellites.
I hope government contracts aren’t renewed for T but then again I believe the government won’t let T fail so not sure …

@aa Lessons Learned , it’s all about subscriber count. You can tout slower BUT if that were the case subscribers would leave but that’s not the case with count rising . You can NOT deny subscriber count. It will outgrow T and it will be global .

While AT&T needs to improve, satellites cannot keep up with the speed of terrestrial fiber.
Don't be surprised if the government eventually forces Elon to permit wholesale of Starlink by independent providers. Leading voices within the FCC have explicitly sounded alarms regarding the lack of viable LEO competitors, publicly warning that "our economy doesn’t benefit from monopolies" and implementing regulatory transparency frameworks to lower barriers for entry for smaller satellite startups.
Satellite communication degrades with customer saturation, but we'll see. Musk has ran off T-Mobile customers with higher rates & repeat degraded service outages & now forcing customers with grandfathered plans off recently, plus all the dr-gs he's on looks like he-l lately.
Starling can’t provide the bandwidth to compete with traditional fiber and cellular. Fiber in particular blows starlink
