Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Only 7 job openings in all of Shell US? Seems very low

Does Shell use third party recruiters do the hiring? 7 total job postings in US is very low. Even India seems low with 33.

@g9 we’re going back to the late 90s/early 2000s when we “hired” people from that staffing company Cynergy rather than hire them on staff. Capital projects and wellsite supervisors were the biggest users of those contractors because of the transient nature of that work. Not sure what or where we’re looking at those roles now.

@dj It certainly looks like Shell wants the work done without actually hiring employees. Shell wants to fill an ongoing need without offering the job security, benefits, or some of the protections that come with direct employment. That’s a major red flag. Tell the recruiting firm, “He-l no,” then run and don’t look back.

Former employee here. Recruiting firm reached out to me on LinkedIn yesterday to apply for a job that isn’t listed on Shell’s official site. Role is advertised as 6-24 month contract. Shell doesn’t want employees.
