Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

I can’t be the only one, right?

I can’t be the only person having an incredibly difficult time focusing on work right now.

I’ve invested nearly 10 years here, earned multiple “Exceeds Expectations” reviews, and always taken pride in being a strong contributor wherever I work. But with so much uncertainty surrounding what’s next, I find myself struggling to stay motivated. The constant unknowns are starting to interfere with my ability to focus on the day-to-day work that’s expected of me.

And we will have over 3 weeks before we hear anything about these VSPs

0% motivation. Can't even sit still for 10 minutes. The staff morale is down the toilet. No emails. No team chats. Everyone has completely withdrawn. Many trying to use up their PTO before they lose it. Some colleagues throwing others under the bus hoping to save their jobs. It no longer feels like the company I used to work for.

Right there with you. What's the point? Come review time there will probably be not much extra fundage left for bonus or increases. And who is going to do your review? Not to mention will you have a job come Fall.

In true Centene fashion -they botched this about the worse way possible.

Job market also is worst. I have been applying since they introduced VSP. Good luck to everyone, wish you all the best.

Checked out? Maybe. Panic-stricken and burned out? Absolutely. Layoffs are coming in August, burnout is real, and healthcare is going through a major purge due to Medicaid cuts. Those of us who work with high-needs SMI members are already stretched thin. The uncertainty about our jobs, combined with demanding caseloads, is taking a toll. People aren’t just checked out, they’re exhausted, worried, and trying to keep their heads above water.

The details remain unclear, agree that employees need transparency on who are the decision-makers, departmental cuts, and the criteria; such as rumors of targeting higher-paid talent, certain departments and State Health Plans being safe. No one thought about how this will impact our providers, vendors, and members. People are mentally checked out without any answers, just a date to expect the layoff.
