Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Leadership needs replacing

A veteran employee here with twenty years in. The cuts years ago felt justified. There was real fat to trim. But these days, terminations are just about finding the easiest way to reduce cost at the cost of some of the best employees. Morale is at an all time low. Worse than anything I've seen before. We need new leadership and a whole new direction.

Morale IS at an all time low. As the manager of a small team of folks who are pretty tenured, it’s pretty hard to pump people up when none of us know who is going to be next since there’s lay offs every single month. Even though my direct team hasn’t been hit, our department has and other teams/dept that we work close with have been hit. Then they want to ask on the survey if we are proud to work for the company

@e5 this is a prime example of poor leadership that is systemic across Optum. When I joined in 2014 the leadership was strong, innovative as much as it could, but it was real. Now leadership just lies to you or focuses on strategies we all don’t care about.

Listen, after the fiasco that was Amy Cardwell and Nico Thirion leadership love in. Optum leadership will always give you a sh*t sandwich because the rot has sunk in. It’s been so long since we had great leadership….

@b6 You might not think sh-t can get any worse, but here at Optum our leaders will see to it that it always will.

"Morale is at an all time low". And that's saying a lot right there.
