Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

Field Supervision Department

I work in an area that was affected by ER. I was chatting to someone in Field Supervision one day. It seems they had quite a few people take the VSP and retire, but not much ISP or outsourcing took place.

What's the consensus on this area? What's the outlook? I would like to find a "safer" area of the firm.

Offshore people can absolutely be FINRA licensed. Look it up.

Field Supervision is just as exposed to AI and offshoring as other roles. No area of the firm is safe.

@ee If leadership had double digit IQ, they would be doing everything possible to retain the licensed folks and the people with years of knowledge under their belts. They won't though, and will start to slowly see people heading for the exits and going to our competitors. ELT only cares about one thing, reducing labir costs and reducing head count. Short sighted mo--ns

@ee it cant be fully AI'D, but we are using AI agents to automate a lot of it. The tech is insanely legit.

@OP I am in Field Supervision, and our roles can't be offshored (must be physically in the US with all required securities registrations and licenses), can't be AI'd (AI can't reason, therefore it can't supervise), and outsourcing to US based contractors is unlikely given the size and scale of the organization.

Don't get me wrong, I have a healthy amount of skepticism and don't take anything that Sr. Leaders or GPs tell us as being entirely truthful, but I am no longer committed to retiring from this firm like I once was.

If the right opportunity comes my way, I'm out.

@OP I work in a similar role at a different firm. This job is very AI exposed. Testing that took weeks now only takes a couple days. Wealth Management is gonna see compressed margins and layoffs if there is a market downturn. Also, demographics are brutal in about 3 years.
