Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

VSP question

Does anyone know ….
If they reject your VSP application, are you still at risk to be laid off?

Absolutely you’re still at risk to be laid off for way less severance too. Remember you’re just a number on a page to these people they don’t care about the person behind the laptop.

I don't have an answer, but it is hard to imagine someone who applied and denied would be part on this layoff... now the next after this (whenever that is, hopefully not for several months) I would think would be fair game.

If they deny someone in July to turn around and lay them off beginning of August that would be disgusting and would look like they were trying to get out of paying that extra VSP amount. I think ppl would definitely secure employment attorneys if that happened. I don't think they would want that headache.

But I guess never say never...

@a2 not necessarily. Centene does rolling layoffs every quarter regardless of earnings or anything else. They do it to cull the herd and spend on contractors instead. Speaking as a former manager who was part of those cycles then eventually succumbed to a RIF myself a couple of years ago. They already have a list of people from every dept they want gone. If those people don’t self RIF then they’ll be laid off.

I seriously doubt anyone will be denied. I think that is just a safeguard for smaller teams to make sure the most or all of the team doesn’t leave if the work still needs to be done.

Yes. How many people that will be laid off is dependent on how many take the vsp.
