@b3 there have been layoffs all year according to some reddittors. They've just been department specific.

@br don't be that person. It's hard for everyone out there. You know, except the senior levels, whom this is not going to affect.

Don't take the buyout no matter who you are or the area you are working in. The percentage of layoffs is small in comparison. The buyout is trying to entice the older workforce to leave. I've been through this type of 'force' in other organizations and what usually happens is jobs get moved to the more focused line of business as the org will need to ramp up in that area. Hold on - don't take the buyout!

Taking a bow to allow other people to keep their job would be the OneTeam thing to do. Im sure no one at retirement age is making the salary of a store clerk for the past 5 years. We are talking about people nearing retirement taking the package right? Social security is helpful and guaranteed. Us younger employees have families and homes to keep over our heads. Selfish people show who they are when times like this come up. Its pure greed

@bk I know so many people who have retired and continue to work for various reasons. Stop being ignorant. You don’t know what is going on in other people’s lives.

How many people here were hired at 60? Come on, the people you are talking about at Ralphs never had a career making a descent salary. Go blow yourself

Yes they cant retire yet they are risking a layoff! How selfish and ignorant you are. Social security is a paycheck younger people dont have the option. Please, stop your greedy self.

AGREE!!! Save other people who need their jobs to feed their families, take the package if you are at retirement unless your selfish and probably are if you're giving the last comment a thumbs down.

@be horrible thing to say. You have no idea who has what in their 401k. There are plenty of people that are 70 years or older, WORKING because they CANNOT retire. I see plenty of seniors working at Ralph's whole foods, etc and they all say the same thing: They cannot afford to retire. Think before making such an ignorant post.

Would the 70 yr olds finally take a bow and leave!! They are secure, have a significant 401k value and will have a descent social security. They can afford the big beautiful package and help save the less fortunate who have many more years in their career. Greed is obviously their motivation to stay. Its disgraceful!

@bb I’d be shocked >1,000 people accept a VSP!

I hear the total reduction is going to be 10%. VSP will cover 2 to 3%. Rest will be involuntary, as soon as mid-July!!

@aw I agree. This will be one of their biggest layoffs.

@b2 that math doesn’t work if there are 61k employees. 3000 is 6% of 50k.

Unless there were 10k+ previous shadow layoffs? 😳

It is 6% or 3000

They do not expect the VSP to have a huge impact on the total number they need. I'm taking the VSP. I am with one of the plans that just went thru layoffs and it is not worth the stress again so soon. I am expecting the 'enhanced' package to be a little sweeter than the normal severance. No reason to hope I survive the next round.

Doesn't matter in actuality how many accept. They are doing the involuntary cut no matter what given they already have a timeline for them.
