Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

I would take the VSP

I can't take the constant stress of worrying about layoffs anymore. I even convinced myself, foolishly, that working hard might help me keep my job. It's strange how our minds turn against us when we're backed into a corner. A change of scenery, even a forced, prolonged holiday, would help me break free from that trap.

@OP I'll take that VSP...it's time. I'm tired of being micromanaged - the company is not what it used to; lately I've seen management cover each other more rather than really looking out for what's best for the team.

The payout might take up to 2 MONTHS to receive. I had a friend take the package and it took him 2 months! wtf!🙄
I’d rather be fired and take unemployment, I need my healthcare and so on if possible. I’ll have to see how that works.I have been dreading this job anyway, I’m kind of happy.🤣

I don't expect a good VSP package from this company. But if they do offer something good, i am out of here, i am tired of being micromanaged like a baby here

I’ve been through several layoffs with this company, my experience has been its upper management making the most money and those underperforming. We shall see.

@a5 I actually think or have heard, it’s the opposite. People with 3 years or less of tenure. That reduces the amount they’ll have to pay as severance. Paying someone who has been here 1 year is significantly less than paying someone who’s been here 10 years

@ak I don’t believe any of you. Once that email comes out tomorrow you all saying you will take the buyout know you won’t. Like you come here and complain, they are giving you and out so go ahead and take it. TF

I agree with the comments above. Constantly year over year having to worry about my job has become very taxing on the mental health. Someone above put it perfectly, this is not the same place i used to know and love. And ive been around a long while. I love Centene and our mission, however, I am frustrated with always having to worry if today is going to be the day. I have a family to support.

I’m definitely considering . This is such a stressful and toxic work environment . I don’t need the constant stress..

I completely agree. The continuous worrying about potential layoffs is exhausting and taking a real toll on me. I never thought I'd become accepting of something like this, but the prolonged uncertainty has gotten to the point where I'm starting to consider it.

Not sure what to do. But I agree that the stress of worrying about this is not worth it anymore. Best of luck to everyone.

I was going to take it in a heart beat but everyone here keeps saying it’s going to be offered to people 2 years or more. I’ve only been working here since last November . I’m disappointed!

Is this the culture we’ve been hearing so much about at play?

I doubt they’re watching, but they should be.

If offered, I plan to take it given it’s a reasonable amount, this is not the same place I used to know and love. Also, as you stated, the continuous worrying about potential layoffs is starting to be too much. I would rather someone who wants to stay, keep their job instead.

@OP I am taking it if offered. I am wondering how much the payout will be?

I plan to take it if offered. Tomorrow can’t come fast enough. Never thought I’d look forward to seeing my inbox, but now I am.
