Novartis Pharmaceuticals is planning to cut 76 jobs at its East Hanover headquarters, according to the latest Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filing with the state in May.

The effective date for the reductions is Aug. 21.

The May filing brings the total number of employees facing job losses at the company to 250 so far this year.

In March, the global dr-gmaker said that it planned to cut 114 jobs between June 26 and Nov. 27, 2026.

And in April, it announced that it was letting go of 60 employees between July 24 and November 20, 2026.

Novartis also reported in September 2025 that it was cutting 58 employees from its East Hanover base, according to a 2025 Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filing with the state.

The layoffs were reported to take effect between November 2025 and June 2026.

This followed a massive reduction of 427 employees, announced in March 2025, and 235 job cuts announced in 2024.

Despite the recent layoffs, the company also announced in April that it’s planning to invest $23 billion over five years in U.S.-based infrastructure.

The plan is expected to result in seven new facilities and create nearly 1,000 new jobs at Novartis, according to a press release.

Novartis reported double-digit sales growth in July, driven primarily by the success of its br---t cancer medicine Kisqali. Sales for the dr-g shot up 64% to more than $1.2 billion, according to the company’s latest earnings report.

Novartis Pharmaceuticals, whose global headquarters is in Switzerland, is one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world, according to its website.
