Is it a bad sign when the Man you work for does not want you to communicate with your teammates on M.S. teams?

I don't know why. Teams chat is the only way I can understand 70% of the people I work with. It's faster. Trying to decipher the thick accent over the phone is futile.

So it depends.
This could be illegal if you work in certain areas because on the trading floor info is supposed to be monitored.
On the other hand, maybe you are bugging people too much with trivial memes and they complained.
