Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Do you think you’re the type of leader people gravitate towards or against?

Every one of the leaders should ask THEMSELVES this question and think about the “deposits” they’re making with the employee base. You have no “money in the bank” with the employees since you fuxed everyone over with 5 day RTO.

People have never been less available in the afternoons than they are right now. It’s been 8 & skate it can wait since they started this BS. Nobody replies back after 2PM anymore

At least when working from home people felt they had to deliver something consistently to stay relevant. Now everyone thinks their job is justified by just swiping in and socializing for 8 hours, and sadly, it is! Productivity died with RTO.

@ah I still do this. Swipe in at HQ at 5AM. Take my back corner cubicle and connect to LAN and clear inbox. Back out for breakfast and to drop the kiddos at school. Back in the office around 8:45. Work until 1PM, and day is over. 8hr on presence report, so work is done… 8 & skate, every single day. Then I head over to Dallas National for my 1:30 Tee Time. Done around 5:30/6 then time for the kiddos soccer practice. I actually prefer RTO because nobody questions me as long as the report shows 8 hours.

"Work on golf tea time, kid soccer ball practice and Netflix at work wfh. No worry about the nonsense"

Since I am in the office at 6am and apply the market based "8 & Skate" I am at the golf course by 3pm anyway. So, yeah, I do my 5x8 but when I shut my laptop off by 2:30p everyday, I am done until the next day. Don't bother trying to get me to boot up at home.

@ah I see people watching Netflix in the office on their phone every single day. Sometimes all day long.

@ah I’ve never played golf, I have no kids, I don’t subscribe to Netflix. Want to try again? You have any more zinger one liners? If this was ever the case then why isn’t the manager being held accountable? Put them on a PIP and move on.

@a7 the issue with RTO is there’s no point. It doesn’t make sense anymore in 2026 and is not a requirement to complete job functions anymore. It hasn’t been for over 20 years. All the work I do is with people through a computer. Why do I need to commute to and sit in an office to take teams calls? You’re costing me my bonus on car maintenance, gas, and tolls for absolutely zero measurable benefit. It’s just making people so miserable they choose to leave, that is all. Is that a good way to run the company? Plus, if you mandate 5 days in the office why doesn’t anyone have an assigned seat? The exact same reason. This isn’t meant to benefit the company in any way other than reducing headcount. And that’s all it’s doing.

@a7
You are not a 24x7 employee are you?
MANY people that have an issue with RTO are 24x7 employees.
Do you not see the predicament?

I don't get the issue with RTO.
Either go to work for pay or stay home and starve.
Easy....
