Hearing a lot about a 10-20% reduction tomorrow. Anyone have any details on orgs, roles, etc that may be impacted?
Hoping the best for everyone.

@h0 I am also a contractor and lost access. Did anyone contact you regarding extension? I thought contractors who lost access are laid off as well.
@ej The problem is that the positions/work that can effectively be automated by AI, and the positions/work that the c-levels think can be automated by AI, are not the same. They actually truly believe they can cut 80%+ of their engineering staff with no issues and a net increase in productivity.
@d7 curious what position you worked. I’m a RES agent and cannot get clarity on who all it’s impacting.
Anyone find any WARN notices posted yet for the mass layoff? I'm not seeing anything at all.
@h3 so sorry to hear that
Was laid off yesterday. 12+ years with HD, most recently in Product Management. People leader. Consistently at the top VOA scores among my peers. Have won several awards like Orange Promise & recognitions from Ted several times. Was given 2x additional responsibilities and a new team just months ago. Pretty much every best practice, playbook, new associate onboarding content used by my org was largely or entirely created by me. And yet…
We were moved under a new VP recently and apparently they thought that I was a “blocker” for a couple of my direct reports that I recruited, hired, coached and promoted. A little birdie told me that the VP apparently wants to bring in “external talent” who can incorporate ways of working smarter.
Sometimes during layoffs, cut lists are shared across VPs and if one of them had a place and willingness to take someone who is on another VP’s cut list, they were allowed to do so. This time, cut lists were not shared across VPs and given the hiring freeze, finding a different home for associates on someone’s cut list was simply not on the cards.
One of my now former associates told me last night that at the post layoff “all hands” meeting yesterday afternoon they used one of the slides I created last year to shout out and celebrate the contributions made by each of the teams in my now former org.
Oh the irony…
Contractors over here, they’ve just deleted our access. No Notifications , nothing. Had a conversation with my staffing company point of contact, she told me they were planning to extend our contract but we don’t have access.
I guess what is going on
@ea My understanding is that the email from Ted today meant anyone impacted was notified, at least for now.
@e3 contractors are next, dont be fooled
Out of about ~150 CSO supervisors 70 were let go. 6 years with HD. No apology no sincerity.
@dx if you were on a big team you were sc--wed, they cleaned house on our large departments. With the AI push I urge anyone with any skills that can be automated to start looking elsewhere. Don’t be blindsided. They will definitely continue to do small layoffs as they have done leading up to now, and the severance package will be even worse for those.
I heard rumors there may be more tomorrow.
Anyone else heard that?
anchor for a team in one supply chain was let go where as the contractors remained. She is trying to understand why orange apron first and not the contractors?
~50% of my whole team was let go. Also, can confirm work location was irrelevant, I know people that were remote and in office that were let go.
was working down in collaboration area today, there was a gent full on sleeping and snoring in one of those capsule chair seats. he was still napping for 30+ minutes, even as I had to leave for a meeting.
there are people who are sleeping on the job, obviously with time to spare, while some people who work hard 9 to 5 getting the axe regardless of performance or results.
I know in corporate america, these layoffs are a bit of luck of the draw situation, but HR needs to do better and actually base these layoffs on performance. who in the right mind would want to work hard and overperform if they dont know they are going to laid off like this?
Sad day here at THD. Wishing the best for those impacted. As one who experience d this at another company, sometimes when a door closes another (better one) opens.
I can't give an answer about RSUs, other than probably the logical take = they vest when they vest. What's vested is YOURS. What you were promised (unvested) is NOT YOURS.
So yea, that basically means you can only take what's vested to you. Everything else goes back to ThD.
@dj How about RSUs? 2-4 year vesting cycle ends around 3/30, which seems out of the 60 day range.
1181 user accounts were deactivated this morning
I was let go by someone with such a thick accent I had trouble understanding what they were saying. I figured it out though. lol 7 years. software development.
@df According to the layoff docs, 60 days severance starting today, including benefits. 401k contribution stops immediately. COBRA coverage available for health insurance after that 60 days period. I'd been with THD for over 7 years, Staff Software Engineer, and apparently my PM was also laid off. And they also just cut off my Slack access.
Directors, managers, 1 year of service, 20 years of service, doesn't matter. Wow.
CSO Supervisors through Sr managers are being let go throughout today. No positions guaranteed though they would be offering a severance package
@de sorry to hear that, hope you will find something better very soon. they are saying they will take of you pay you a package and give you support , is that true? if so how many months was the package? trying to plan ahead myself as it could happen again soon to any of us
@d7 I just got laid off as well, also remote and no longer living near a THD corporate location.
Can confirm, software engineers also being laid off across the country. Not sure why or how many yet.
@d7 I don't think so, my fiance are both work from home but different orgs, he was impacted i wasn't
@d7 no they’re not - layoffs only happening in certain areas
Layoffs just announced. 10% of IT affected
Ccyber here working remote not affected, but here around 20% WF got impacted not sure if true
@d4 How so?
Just got laid off, are they laying off all remote workers?
Customer Solutions was impacted, Supervisors through Senior Managers at least
@OP what
Store Ops was impacted.
Guessing that the mandatory email was for engineering. Still need to confirm (our group got this email early last year).
There definitely appears to be layoffs today for IT (and also, anyone that supports IT, as one person in our group was affected, so far).
Another dark day at ThD.
@cv I haven't seen this email.
Email from CEO -- back to office is now mandatory 5 days a week
I am hearing we have layoffs coming today as well.
Mandatory meeting put on our calendar today for the whole org.
