@ty well that explains why all the managers at my site are so paranoid lately.
10-15% wouldn’t surprise me, but that wouldn’t rock the boat. You can get that through attrition for most groups.
A mid layer management cut is more of what I’m expecting, but no dice yet.
Reorganize or "musical chairs" incoming bet its already happening at the manager level.
I’ve heard a wave of management cuts are coming and probably a lot of reorganization along with it.

How does one get laid off? Can I just ask my boss to lay me off? What if our group isn't slated for layoffs, can she request one anyway? Also, how could I put a bug in her ear without sacrificing future chances at raises and promotions?

Right now they are not backfillimg in many SR roles. Layoffs will probably hinge on how much attrition there is between now and the end of the fiscal year. Mass layoffs are not likely in SR, though.
Wait until March before we have a better idea.
