The layoffs are insane this round. Under qualified people are ending up in some key roles that make zero sense.

I like the comments around grade 15+ needing to be besties with their boss. This is so true.

@jp the bank barely functions so by your logic we need to start lay offs at the top.

Global Learning makes sense. The new training portal barely functions.

Laid off. Remote. Did not get an NI, so they aren’t just targeting the NI. Other remote employees in my group were not laid off, yet, at least. I know of people not laid off, yet, in grades higher than me who do little to nothing but butt kiss and stay besties with their a-s kissing culture vulture managers. This company su-ks, as do its managers, so I’m going with this is for the best. Cheers to all of us who get to reinvent ourselves now!

Just got the layoff notice following a completely unwarranted NI. For this highly achieving creative, the prelude of silence and alienation has been soul-crushing.

From what I gather, talking to leadership, by the way I'm a manager, the business lines have targets or tasks as they call them, financial numbers to hit.

For example, they might be ordered to hit $1 million dollars in budget cuts they must achieve through "efficiency".

It's up to leadership in each area to decide how they will approach it. Someone will just eliminate empty spaces that job openings were there for, retirements will not get backfilled, some contractors will get let go early, but ultimately many will just use layoffs. What they decide for layoffs is different for each area. There is no directive that I am aware of that says target remote people. I know of several people laid off last week but it was a blend of remote and in office. But they were all predominantly needs Improvement.

@dw Connected Finance side not sure if other parts of digital are also impacted.

The people I am aware of, one is remote and one is hybrid.

Can anyone just comment what they are seeing? You don’t need to share great detail to out yourself, but is it mostly remote people? Is it certain grades you’ve seen? Is it the “needs improvement” folks?

I'm in mortgage operations and was scheduled a random "team meeting" tomorrow. Highly unusual. I'm sure it will be layoffs which I've been expecting for a while with dismal volumes.

There were some layoffs last Friday. So it's not just Tuesday. After watching this unfold for 2 or 3 years now I get the sense that HR doesn't have one set date per month but rather maybe 10 or 15 days of layoffs each month on average. Very small batches.

@a2 it could be the shenanigans going on with the interest rate caps. Not saying that there isn't other stuff happening but GK hit the news today in a yahoo article talking about the impacts to the economy and banking if it happens.

I'd guess that it's all hands on deck in a panic about that among other things.

I am sorry to those that were laid off today. It's not right or fair.

It's exhausting. I can't do good work always thinking I'm about to lose my job.

I wish they would just go ahead and get this over with so we aren't living in limbo for the entire year. I know they won't, if the sc-mbags in leadership can avoid bad headlines they will. The only thing I trust is for leadership to serve themselves. Just pack it up and ship it to india already put me out of my misery.

I know of a few with January notice but not sure if this will be in multiple business lines or just mine. Can’t elaborate unfortunately as I don’t want to be targeted.

It’s the 3rd week of the month which is historically when they happen, so this is not surprising.

I will also shared that what I’ve observed from people I know and leadership today, something is up. Everyone is head down, urgent matters, and hush hush.

I hope everyone has some form of self-care or happy hour planned this week. Here we go…
