Labor Market Starting to Turn

Wanted to share since everything is cyclical. Looks like we hit bottom on the labor market cuts. Should start turning around very soon. That’s not going to bode well for the tops attrition plans and current treatment of employees. So far they’ve managed to retain more people than they would like; however, with the market maybe starting an upswing, the talent is about to go to greener pastures with higher pay and better treatment. Going to lose the very people they would like to keep. The only thing keeping people here are waiting another year or two to retire (most people), the hangers on do nothings waiting for severance (no offense to you, but you know who you are), and the talent that’s stuck due to a bad job market. The last class of employee is the ones they don’t want to lose, but will be the first to go.

Yes, December hiring was slower than expected, but so were layoffs. I’m not completely convinced we’ve turned the corner, but it’s a good sign.

All well and good but hiring is still very slow.

“ The U.S. labor market ended 2025 on a soft note, with job creation in December less than expected, according to a report Friday from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Nonfarm payrolls rose a seasonally adjusted 50,000 for the month, lower than the downwardly revised 56,000 in November and short of the Dow Jones estimate for 73,000.”

I ain't leaving till they PAY me to leave. It's so easy to do the minimal work when I do work so why quit for free. I can take off so much paid time off for so many reasons and then when I do go to work, I can get away with doing hardly anything, and the company knows they can't touch me if you know what I mean. So yeah, I ain't leaving till the pay me to leave.
