@ew Hans was our CEO and he was fired from Ericsson. Apparently actual performance results only adhere to the rank and file. If we execute as poorly as our executives have, we would be shown the door. Golden parachutes and millions in salary and stocks shield them from having to execute.

are you guys aware that one of the VZ board member was an ex McKinsey who became the Starbucks CEO for a year and was fired. check him out. I cant believe he is part of VZ Board. He can be a Harvard case of how to destroy a company value.

@OP - "Verizon long-standing relationship with the consulting firm."

Not unusual at all. Usually the top consulting firms are all immersed working for the Fortune 500 companies. I was with Accenture Management Consulting prior to going to work as a Verizon Director.

To tell you the truth, the typical Consulting Co. resource can run circles around the average Verizon employee in terms of motivation, skill and value added work contributions!

VZ rotates consulting firms; not too long ago, it was Ernst & Young in BR. They could use the executive parking lot / elevators to not have to mix with the plebs

Saying most of the execs previously or currently work for them is a stretch. Lots of companies use McKinsey for business consulting. That's what they do.
