Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Here we go again layoffs

I mean why do we need to deal with this again .Hearing now they want to riff about 10-15,000 more in April after the merger.Like sitting on the edge of seat.At this point thinking everyone starts looking for a job to jump ship if possibly comes up.Cause this is no way to live .I mean we’re all like we survived it’s over .Now new year it’s not over yet round 2 then what round 3

@aq the CS AI isn’t ready. And it won’t be. Since agent’s cant leave feedback anymore it won’t be able to learn. The layoffs will mostly be eliminating duplicate roles between FIOS and Frontier.

@f8 they are buying Frontier to expand the fiber footprint. Selling off the Fios isnt in the current plans

@mk hope that’s right! The 30 year legacy leaders that caused such an organizational mess are long past their due to leave. Horrendous leadership with no result.

Dan is cutting operational costs, and using automation and A.I. to replace people.

He mentioned that in the first company wide meeting. When Dan said 1000 days until Artificial General Intelligence. I took that as how much time most employees have with the company. Dan even mentioned field techs have at 5 to 7 years until robots can replace them. Why else would he mention it if it did not apply?

I suspect they are prepping the company to sell the company to another buyer, and they are trying to make operational costs look good by laying people off.

@ch oh lordt ... all McKinsey consulting does is get paid to propose what the board wants so they can take the heat off themselves.

The board gonna be like McKinsey said cut all these extra jobs, they are the professionals so we just followed their guidance.

If MCK is involved, expect some job analysis requests in your inbox soon....
Ive Been thru this before....

The number isn’t definitive yet but expect to find out early Feb after the Q4 earnings call

This is unfortunately true. As the forecasts for next years are being created by Tony with Sampath’s help (where the heck is Kyle and Russo), it seems that there needs to be significant reduction in headcount needed especially with churn reduction spend and price pressure / war with the competitors.

The number is not final but will feel as substantial as 13k. McK consulting involved and proposing sizing.

@bp My guy, how delusional are you to think everyone was doing this? Barely anyone ever did stuff like this, unless it came to childcare and that's cleared by managers. To think that during covid we would take our children out of daycare because gasp we legally had to due to cloaures? Also to think that we didn't work out part or our hours? Or that during covid the company overhired 45000 employees when employment numbers ran flat?

Go back to your useless middle management position and wait for April. You'll no doubt be next anyway, so try not to crash out and lose your severance when you hear it.

Just work as prescribed 9-5 M-F. A lot of you took advantage and worked between morning golf and afternoon tennis times timeslots after Covid and forgot what working normal hours are. Many canceled daycare and started bringing your older kids to and from school on company time. Human nature to do so but welcome back to collaboration and teaming up in the office. Has been done for over a century. You had to abuse the freedom, didn't yall?

Call center representatives need to go, aka operators. Your job has been outsourced and given to AI. Get rid of them @$100k a pop, and you’ll have your layoff #’s.

I should've said, every mass layoff was leaked here first. Small layoffs happen all the time.

Every lay-off, the incentive program, I heard here first. Not all rumors turned out true, but the ones that did were leaked here first. Dan Schulman appointment was leaked here the night before it was announced. There are people here who know what they are talking about.

Update your resume and start preparing for interviews—this will give you clarity, momentum, and confidence.

Verizon is struggling, and poor leadership decisions have created an unhealthy environment. The good news is that there is a much bigger world beyond Verizon—one with companies that value talent, offer stronger compensation, and provide real growth opportunities.

Use this time wisely. Invest in yourself, sharpen your story, and start marketing your skills with confidence. Better opportunities are out there—go claim them.
