Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Laid off in my 50s with no pension and no plan

I'm part of this middle-aged surplus they've created. I'm too young to retire and too old to feel like I can start over. The future I planned for my family (the security, the college funds, the stability) is gone. I feel like I've completely failed them. I'm honestly feeling like I'm at my lowest right now.

There, but for the grace of God go many of us, been waiting for the ax to fall this last few years ... even downsized our home to get ready for it. Dare I hope that I make it to retirement?? Certainly that OHS question about recommending people to join is a complete joke ... recommending those young and talented, grab some experience and get the he-l out !

A lot of really good people are looking to leave. Reason, tired of living on pins and needles wondering if their job is going to make the next cut. Rough roads ahead when we start losing the quality employees that care and make a difference

You absolutely haven’t failed them; that would imply that you decided for this to happen, and that every day you showed up to work didn’t count!

I feel for you. I’m am over 65 and due to finances am still working. This horrid company has disregarded on multiple occasions a documented request for a disability accommodation. Apparently this arrogant company believes they are above the ADA which has been federal
Statute since 1990. This is the nature of the organization you worked for. I know the job market is horrid but in the long term - anyone getting cut from this company will in due time be grateful they are out of this nightmare employer.

Not your fault. Many states are disallowing sugary pop and fatty chips making SNAP recipients unhealthy and needing medical intervention in the 100s of millones of dolars.
