Thread regarding PowerSchool layoffs

Layoffs, December 10th

Hi team,

As we’ve shared, PowerSchool is entering a new chapter focused on simplifying, streamlining, and strengthening how we work. We’ve been transparent about the need for change to drive sustained growth and unlock the value our customers expect.

As a result, we are moving forward with a restructuring of our organization to streamline our management model; one built for clarity, accountability, and speed. This will help us focus on what matters most: delivering for our customers, strengthening our operations, and setting PowerSchool up for long-term success.

Today, our PX and leadership teams are meeting with these impacted individuals. For some, today will be their last day at PowerSchool, while others are being asked to remain in their current roles for a transition period before departing. Furthermore, as part of these personnel changes intended to streamline our operations, we are moving some employees into new teams. This is the only company-wide workforce action planned based on our projected performance going forward.

I want all our employees to be aware that these actions are taking place now and that the notifications will be completed by close of business local time. After we complete the notification process, I will be hosting a global Town Hall at 8AM PT on December 11 to address open questions and share additional details of what’s changing and what’s ahead.

This is a comprehensive effort across all our company operations to eliminate redundancies and unnecessary costs. We looked at consolidating our technology stack, removing underutilized or unused applications, and simplified processes to reduce costs in other areas of the business.

While this yielded significant savings, we’ve had to make the difficult decision to downsize our workforce to eliminate duplicative work and realign our organizational structure with current priorities and performance. This decision was not made lightly. The individuals impacted have contributed to the success of PowerSchool and in general they have all performed well for the company. We wish them the best in the future.

We are supporting every impacted individual through their transition with as much clarity and care as possible. Employees that are separating from the organization will receive severance and additional compensation based on tenure and local regulations. They will also receive continued support from our PX team as well as outplacement services.

This is a difficult time for impacted employees, so we ask for understanding and kindness towards these colleagues. Please take time to support one another and reach out to your manager or the PX team if you have questions or need any support.

Thank you,
Antonio Pietri, CEO

I have to say, this holiday was so disheartening. I know that my future will be better, but the way I was treated for so many years while being a high performer, only to be lopped off a week before Christmas felt cruel. Seeing those in my department left is a big head scratcher. Lots of yes people. They will eventually eat one another bc that’s the culture. Sad, given the industry.

Merry Christmas, Sc-mbag Pietri and the rest of the bean counters! May your families realize how sh---y of a person you are and leave you soon. May you never find peace! May you never be able to recover financially from any ruin that comes your way! Sc-mbags.

Being able to reply and post these messages has been a form of relief and therapy for me. I’m curious if these millionaire/billionaire fellas actually care about their fellow employees and why they feel NOW is such a good time to cause trauma and stress to their fellow man, but that’s probably because they’re not human and behind those rotten teeth, lies and even rotten person. Best of wishes to the old guard and crews that were left to face a new jobless market. It’s only a matter of time before PowerSchool goes under at this point (I give it 2-4 years)

@1ap, Internet paranoia is understandable, but this one’s pretty low risk. As long as you’re not posting from a work laptop or VPN (please tell me you’re not), Power school can’t see your IP. That requires a court order to the site owners.
As chatter between peers about work conditions is legally protected, courts usually don’t get involved unless there’s real misconduct like threats and such.

@1ap haha. They can’t get access to your ip from these people. Power school threat can go sc--w itself.

Guys be careful. They are tracking IPs here and are threatening legal action.

At least Mr Pietri's letter to employees was somewhat honest.

Here's the BS he emailed to customers:

Dec 16, 2025

"As the year comes to a close, I want to thank you for the trust you place in PowerSchool to deliver the outcomes you count on.

Over the past several weeks, we’ve begun to execute on important initiatives to build on PowerSchool’s incredible platform and create a more simplified, operationally excellent, customer-focused company backed by a culture of leadership.

The direction we have set, and the changes made and planned, will sharpen our focus and increase our capacity to invest in the commitments in my December 4 letter, all with the purpose of increasing the value of our solutions and serving you better.

Some of the changes here at PowerSchool include restructuring how our team is organized to ensure we deliver on the investments promised and on a streamlined customer engagement model, all required to meet your expectations in 2026 and beyond. As I’ve connected with our employees, I have been struck by how passionate they are to meet your needs. Their talent and dedication will continue to be the foundation for how we deliver to your expectations. Our commitment to strengthen PowerSchool into a best-in-class partner includes investing in our people so they can create even greater value for you.

As the holiday season approaches, I hope you and your colleagues find enjoyment and the time to rest and recharge for a great 2026. Thank you for your trust and partnership; we are honored to support your mission and will continue to listen to you closely as we move forward together.

On behalf of everyone at PowerSchool, thank you for your continued support; we look forward to the year ahead.

With appreciation and warm wishes,

Antonio Pietri
Chief Executive Officer

This is what happens when Private Equity Bain stumbles in to destroy so they can get fatter during bonus season. Sc-m of the earth corporate raiders that have no soul and will detroy the company on their way to he-l. Life is short and the people they are destroying will come back in karma

It all started going south with the big cybersecurity incident and the loss of the North Carolina statewide contract of 1.6million students. Also Then the two original Indian leadership folks left, Hardeep and Maulik, who came when Vista bought the company from Pearson in 2014 - those were good 10 years.
We were your largest customer, working for NC at the time - but all that happened after I was gone. Sorry so many people lost their jobs.

Let's be clear about our leadership’s only skill: blaming others for their own sc--w-ups. For the last two years, every time their id--tic decisions lead to failure, their one and only solution is to fire people to save their own as--s.Then comes that snake Devendra, putting on his sad little act. He'll have the gall to tell you how they could have fired 30% of you, but in his great "mercy," he only fired 15%. He genuinely expects you to be grateful for the insult.A warning to everyone who's left: get out now. You haven't been spared, you've just been put on the list for the next round. Leave before this a--hole completely destroys your career and your sanity.

Yall need to name full names of these people that are destroying tech companies so we can watch out for them if they try to find their way to other good companies in order to try to wreck them. I’ve never understood how one bad leader could spurn the introduction of a series of bad leaders but problems unchecked become bigger problems for all of us to deal with sooner or later. Good luck to everyone impacted by these a--holes!

I would rather stay unemployed for the rest of my life than work for sc-mbag leaders like Antonio, Devendra or Shivani.

The last two have been on a relentless mission to destroy Powerschool for the past two years, pushing id--tic ideas and pointless experiments. Now, with this new CEO, they've been given a boost, and their mission to wreck everything has grown exponentially.

I got laid off a few month ago, thats the best thing ever happened to me, PowerSchool is the worse company i have ever worked for, their products su-ks big time so many issues and the management team are on a lower IQ spectrum for sure. The pay is a joke, leave this company there are lots of better opportunities with good benefits and way better pay. Powerschool is a sh-t hole.

Best part, I get to stay on to help train our replacements located in Mexico. FYI, our customer base already complains about the language barrier from the India Team. Good luck with that.

Same playbook. I was part of the last round of layoffs. My 4 person team was cut to one person, who left shortly after, and was replaced by 1 person in India and then all the work going to the few employees left.

I still have the zoom video of everyone being let go on the Marketing team. At least then they waited until January.

Was laid off in a previous round. Turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me. There are greener pastures. PowerSchool is a miserable company only focused on "extracting student dollars," not actually providing good solutions to teacher and students. Good riddance and hope Band and this new CEO sinks the place. But being laid off su-ked so best of luck to all effected this round.

Hi I got cut off yesterday with no warning while I was working and finishing my timesheet. I thought I was having computer issues and let my boss know that I could not sign into my account. Which I was not able to finish my timesheet. But then my boss let me know there was massive cuts and I would get an email with details about it. I still haven’t gotten my email. Can someone let me know what’s going on and when we will get paid? Idk this is very unprofessional and right before Christmas and not enough time for me to pay rent and bills coming up. What are you guys doing in the meantime??? Someone please comment to let me know some details, please because there’s no phone number to call about this.

@eg if you are just presenting the facts and your feelings about the situation, that falls under your freedom of speech rights as a former employee. So I dare them to come after anyone. Just shows how little they understand employment law.

I just want to say I’m praying for those impacted and hope you all land on your feet immediately. PowerSchool and its shoddy “leadership team” did not deserve you. It’s only a matter of time before they too are ousted because of the incredibly tone deaf business moves they are making to save a quick buck.

Why doesn't he just self exit and save the Company quite a # of employees that worked hard through their tenure?

He's literally done nothing since coming aboard outside of laying off and smiling while doing it.

Looking at his smug face, hearing him search for words while repeating the same corporate speak I've heard for years, I can tell he's lying. Bain Capital should be proud.

I've never been more ashamed working for a company...

What's driving me crazy is that he keeps talking about being "best in class" while slashing jobs. He's hamstringing us and calling it progress.

We literally have no infrastructure in Texas. Why are we building a brand new office if we're having financial problems?

While we are laying off many employees, we WILL be increasing new centers in Texas and employing many new employees (illegals) in order to increase our bottom line! We will also be introducing a NEW culture in Powerschool starting today, the next version of Powerschool!

I also spoke about many other things that made no sense, while using corporate buzzwords, lots of ummms and ehhhhs while I thought of the next lie to tell those remaining in the company.

Rebalancing, realigning, restructuring (lots of words used here beginning with re).

India and Bangalore will remain important locations as we continue to look for cheaper labor! Folsom and new offices in the US (other than Texas) - NOPE. We will also open an office in Mexico and work closely with the cartels, I mean, beautiful people of Mexico there because that's exactly what our US-based customers want to hear!

Someone on my team was let go and they didn't even tell our manager. They only knew because the affected employee suddenly went silent. 10 years of solid work to have the door slammed in his face. And now our team has to pick up the slack when we're already understaffed. This su-ks.

I am not a devil. Just someone out of touch with humanity.

Please stop spreading misinformation about the human traits I do not possess. I didn’t want to cut as many jobs as I did, but had to in order to ensure I have an extra 0 or two on my bonus next year. Oh, and I plan on increasing my RSUs also.

And because PowerSchool is in such financial straits, I’m going to close the Folsom office, open one in Dallas, expand operations there because the Company is broke. Might even increase RSUs for those staying on through June by 30 shares or so because I’m such a generous god, err I mean guy.
