Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Closing hours

Noticed some stores are not staying open as late this holiday season. Is that a sign they are on the chopping list? Seems to be quite a bit of overlap between that and the earlier closing stores, at least in the DMV.

In the 35+ years, I worked for Famous Barr and then Macy's when they bought May Co, my store has never closed earlier than 7pm on a Sunday. Now we are closing at 6pm. Monday through Saturday we close an hour earlier at 8pm. I've been told that we keeping up to Mall hours. Hmmmm

We are not a closing locatio and we are never open later than 9pm through the week and 10pm on Fri and Sat during the holiday season. The days of being open to midnight are thankfully over. Was a d-mb thing to do anyway.

@pa

But it seems like the "top" stores in the market all stay open till 10 even though no malls in the area stay open that late.

Opening early and closing later than your mall environment doesn’t really make a whole lot of sense for sales unless you’re using those hours for recovery.

Probably realized we don't make a lot of $ in the last hour. Also, the mall may close earlier than the Macy's which is the case for the mall we're in
