Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

I mostly feel relieved

I lost a job I didn’t even like, and I definitely won’t miss my manager, or a few people on my team, for that matter. But I’m still terrified of what’s out there. I’ve saved enough to bridge myself over for a bit, which helps ease the anxiety. I’m giving myself some time to decompress, and then I know I’ll flip straight into panic mode the moment I start dealing with the job market. I have this feeling things will get worse before they get better. It’s really hard to feel even remotely optimistic these days.

Take care of your health first. work a part-time job if you have to. live simply. the rat race won't help you if you're the one on the hamster wheel that takes a stoke or heart attack. don't be like a japanese salaryman! lol

Here's something I came across earlier posted on the site that I found helpful.

Wish you the best in your job search!

That is the one upside. If you really didn’t like your job to begin with, getting laid off to be a blessing. You’ll have a chance to look for new opportunity while getting severance to tide you over.

I think alot of folks are planning to take a break during the holidays then get after it in January......which is why I would suggest you get after it ASAP. Job market is tough, take any advantage of anything you can. Nothing wrong with your plan, just giving a suggestion is all. Best of luck!
