Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Disconnected In Atlantic South

The outcome of this situation is truly shameful. In retail, we were pushed relentlessly to drive the leaderboard, only to find out that leaderboard performance had no bearing on job security. It is baffling that stores, SDs, Directors, store leaders, and sales reps consistently at the lower end of performance rankings throughout the year remain employed.

In the Atlantic South market, we were subjected to endless calls and passive-aggressive behavior from leadership. NONE of that pressure mattered. The market president was the worst of them all. Her and her cronies would talk out both sides of their mouth and leave it up to everyone to decipher what they meant all while screaming how important integrity is. The leaders would go on and on about performance but if performance mattered, we’d have a different market president.

The customers are DISCONNECTING because the leadership at the top is DISCONNECTED to what drives true customer loyalty and satisfaction. In the end, our individual contributions and struggles were irrelevant; we are merely casualties in the company's efforts to manipulate the stock price. Happy Holidays to everyone and I wish you all the very best. We deserved better.

I learned this years ago... its like a ponzi scheme. All hands was the higher ups putting pressure on the next level down to rah rah rah the foot soldiers... use big words and have a nice pep rally... all the while the higher ups are getting rich with bonuses no matter what. Ones they like, they move to a new position prior to things getting too bad.. look up Roger Ta-g (I think his name was that). Dude ran hard for years with top sales.. I saw him at one of those big sales events in Miami when people would win those trips.. dude was on top of the world.. heard he was so committed he'd work whatever hours needed.. passed away at a fairly young age due to health issues. Its a ponzi scheme.. you get devoted poeple under you.. pay them decent... make it sound like they can be millionaires if they just listen and take the advice and sell one more.. all the while its just not gonna work out that way... even if it does.. how many years in a row could someone maintain working that many hours.

Years ago there was a guy in Telesales making 6 figures easy... due would have 2-3 phone calls going at a time.. wouldn't use the bathroom.. his phone ringing off the hook.. cutting deals like crazy.... ok sure.. but he didn't last because he got burnt out... who wins in the end? Only VZW and the executives.

I went from winners circle in 2024 top performer to laid off while someone we just onboarded in the beginning of the year is staying.

Same in GL, so it’s not just one area. We have stores and districts (maybe even a territory) that are dodging accounts to look good on LB. Those stores get touted around as if they have cracked the code of “sticking to a process” that works. Falls upon deaf ears when this is brought to anyone’s attention. Look at their ispu numbers YTD. I would also like to know if they’re doing cross-store ispu and then both stores getting commission for “sales” when they have these phones in stock. But then we have people who do the right thing, who don’t lie/cheat or steal losing their jobs. Got it.

Sorry to hear. Unfortunately same in AN. Turns out it was all a VP and an MP addiction to attack and berate people. Come to find out it was not the reason my store got affected.
