Are we riffing 15000 employees to pay for Frontier? Does the deal make financial sense with Verizon’s debt burden?

Verizon is loaded down with under-performing DEI hires. It will be interesting to see whether Verizon's continuing (but hidden) adherence to DEI prevails in the RIFs. If so, sell even shorter than you already have.
@aj huge fallacy that it is cheaper areas to live in. Prepandemic it was, now many of these areas are so unaffordable that you see people homeless due to the increase of cost of living. Florida and Tennessee are perfect examples.
Valid question since Hans and Board approved. Track record su-ks on acquisitions. GTE, MCI, Vodaphone.. all overpaid for integration su-ked even more.
@ac not justifying the lower pay at frontier if thats true however the cost of living is way lower in most of their service area.
@ag WAS being the operative word. I’ve taken a long look at this and what they’ve done is near a miracle, it is now a FANTASTIC company. If only we could do the same we would all be proud
@OP i agree, frontier was a disaster...sold it then bought back for more $$
Frontier employees are paid way less than Vz employees and there is the OPEX savings there. Start them low and keep them low. It's not an even swap. Take it for what that's wworth. So are we being replaced by them, sure in certain sectors. It's all about the Benjamins.
15k reduction is nothing to do with Frontier. It’s because we are fat and slow and have lost the ability to be good at anything.
@a3 This! I bet most people posting and perusing here have no clue what you are talking about.
YAHOOOOOOOOOOO
The market is moving converged, so without these assets we will be squeezed harder and harder. It is the only option. and nowadays they seem to be really well run and waaaaay more efficient than we are. So yes, makes complete sense.
Frontier is more nimble and scrappier, so Dan can axe tons of fios and fwa related people
@OP Frontier is turning a profit and does alot of things better and cheaper than VZ does so yes it makes sense. And im not talking about headcount im talking about costs to run the business.
SPINCO has come full circle. Turns out it was a perfect name and place to dump the GTE assets.
