@fm you are not smart nor informed. We have 7 openings (backfills) that we are actively interviewing for in NA. We just hired two in NA this week.

In addition to Bangalore Cisco should stop hiring in Canada.

Don't be an id--t, Canadians are a fair competition in terms of salaries and skills and work ethics

Besides that it goes both ways, there is US Cisco employees working on Canadian projects as well as Canadian employees working on US projects, both legal due to CUSMA/NAFTA
There is also Indian workers working remote in both countries on local projects -that to me is illegal

All new G2-backing AI groups/teams are hiring more (in US) and operate with opex. Other team in NA, it will be "extremely" difficult to get any FTE backfill. Even red badge in NA is tough. The best bet is blue badge in off-shore area. Those teams won't even get FTEs in offshore easily. Those non-AI teams will be lucky if there is no further cut to save money. That has been there for a while now.

In terms of OPEX, do you mean internal travel, paid training, group lunch, replacement accessories, test equipment, and etc.? It is still the same - tight but not impossible.

In conclusion - in NA, non-AI teams will be extremely difficult to get any backfill.

@d7

try re-reading what I wrote

Since you apparently need it summarized

  • Cisco is not back-filling vacancies in NA in certain orgs and positions anymore

  • This is not a temporary freeze

  • I made no mention of how many existing employees Cisco has in NA

So, no more global warming? Is the imbecilic climate change backed by science gone with the wind of change?

@OP opex freeze, Oh no! How will Cisco afford its own licensing subscriptions?

@av I don't think having 50k employees based in NA would qualify as a "token workforce". Your comment is very frozen.

Common man in the USA is being scammed by corporate america. Outsource everything and maximize profits for the few rich at the top.

Stop the L1 visa too. There is no salary requirement and no cap on count too. Another way to kick US workers out of job market and enrich others.

@av True that..... just look at the directory and search on Bangalore. It hits the max, there are over 10k people in Bangalore.

People talk about hiring "freezes" in North America. They are wrong. "Freeze" implies "thaw". There is no "thaw" coming. Cisco is permanently finished hiring in North America for certain roles in certain orgs. Attrition in North America, either voluntary or involuntary, is being replaced/absorbed in Bangalore. This is happening slowly so it isn't obvious and it allows the company to better identify the skillsets for new Bangalore hires, but it is happening nonetheless. There is some timeline for entire orgs to move over, Cisco's goal seems to be that there will be nothing but a token workforce in North America for most of these teams that can be trimmed. I should know, I am now part of a "token" North American team.

I talk to some people in Cisco who challenge this...invariably they are just unaware of how much hiring is being done in Bangalore. They'll figure it out eventually.

Technology companies without any inventions are bad.

Chuckie been trying to tagging along names of famous tech leaders to impress the world as if Cisco is still relevant

When was that communicated ?
what does opex freeze mean?

Cisco is in difficult spot right now
No more cheap work via H1B
Offshoring work will be taxed by Trump
AI on the other side is ramping up (although in some kind of bubble from what I am hearing) so they need more man power -so then what do you do if you have this freeze on top of the above ?
