Do not follow this advice. First, don’t tip them off that you are about to retire right around the time bonus discussions are taking place. If they know you’re about to leave they have no incentive to take care of you at year end. Second, notice period means absolutely nothing if you are about to retire. What are they going to do if you don’t provide them with the 30, 60, or 90 days they are asking for? You’re not leaving for a competitor, you’re walking into the sunset to live out the rest of your life in peace. They have no recourse.

depending on your role you may have a notice period of 30, 60, or 90+ days. I'd say give notice now with an end date after 12/15 to guarantee this year's match.

Why would you retire a few months away from 401k match/bonus? Coast for a few more months and get the money you’ve earned. Put in your retirement paperwork the day your bonus check hits your account.

You are eligible for 401k match, even if you are not employed on 12/15, if you turn 65 before your last day.

No, have to be employed on Dec 15. Hard black and white rule.

Bonus is more grey
