Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

October 23rd - Huge RIF coming

RIF coming soon and notifications will be on 10/23. Believe it will be 6% across the company and all departments will be impacted. Thanks for the usual early Christmas present, Verizon.

@22b Complete rubbish. No layoffs as predicted and we just got cleared for a headcount. Maybe you should start living in reality instead of your union fantasy life. I was in a union for 9 years and could not stand it hence I came over to wireless 11 years ago and love it!

@208 I am a manager and I have heard NOTHING nor have the other managers I interface with. I think this is all just rubbish if you as me! In fact, we were just approved for 1 headcount and that person goes to my org! So again, I think all this is rubbish.

you can blame any ceo you like. but the fact is the VPs who hire all the worthless in dia. they are the biggest mistake. they are hooked to think that in dia will make any kinda of sales. The fact is that we have got to equilibirum. this means no turn over... no sales. onlything left is a big merge. like this will lead to 4 or 5 times more layoffs. Yes a merge is way way over due. like much overdue for the layoffs to maximuize in all the telcos

It looks like the consensus on the main V Comm page is that the rumors were false. Nothing major is going on.

All is quiet in the Ridge. Meeting invites would have gone out already and this place would be bl_owing up with comments.

Either the scale is smaller than what was claimed or it was all bill.

Please let it be me. Verizon su-ks and has su-ked since Hans took over. Him being gone is long overdue. Currently stuck with the worst director ever Rich Wilson who is a communications failure on 2 legs and completely out of touch. Riff me and let me move on to the next phase in my life.

@nh very true. In the same boat. I was there a long time and had no idea what that place did to my sanity. Pi---d I didn’t leave sooner.

Took Vsp last year. Was one of the best opportunities of my life. My stress and anxiety is gone and I’m in the best shape of my life. It’s a blessing if you get rif’d. Even if it doesn’t seem like it in the moment.

Omg! So true about Chris Paul. I work with his organization. One of the biggest losers of all times.. did not deliver a single feature in the entire year.. keep shifting priorities or keep blaming UX, strategy or backend teams for their failure. That org needs to dismantle

word is nothing drastic until union deal reached because ptbs don't know what they need for strike duty and already sent too many jobs to India that can't cover splicing and climbing. + big worry over administration attitude to outsourcing may make all these overseas jobs too expensive. wait and see more for most groups.

If there is a RIF, the first person that needs to be go is Chris Paul. In all my years at the company I have never seen a leader more universally hated by both his directs and peers. It's embarrassing that the company is so tone deaf to how ineffective some of their higher ups are at leading a big org.

Home for the Holidays. The tobe deaf leadership thinks people will welcome the severance checks during the holidays. They have no clue how the real world works. I know people who took the voluntary program who still can't find a job and COBRA ate up a big chunk of their package.

Lake Mary isn’t concerned. Got people there in the same copy and paste roles for years that are mostly at the gym or playing ping pong when they bother to show up at all. The rifs will surely pass over them. Again.
