Thread regarding PayPal layoffs

Which countries/orgs have been hit?

There are a lot of rumors going around, and it’s hard to tell what’s actually true.

I, along with half the people in my department are eager to go. We just suspect that maybe performance managing people out the door is more likely as they don't want to pay out redundancy packages.

PayPal seems to be one of the worst performing stocks in the market for a long time running and it has done particularly bad the last 2 years. How does the stocks performance effect SBC? And recruiting?

I’m sure there will be more layoffs again in Q1 in 2026, that’s normally when it happens in the tech world.

Of course they are - what business doesn't of this size? I don't know why people are always surprised at workforce adjustments. This is just how big business operates - different skillsets for different environments etc etc.

If you are being hired well done and enjoy your role.

@cw not rumours but it is not a mass layoff, just a few targeted small teams like training
