Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Succession problem

Who in the world is next up for CEO? Seems like there is a big crop of senior leaders up for forced retirement at the same time (MW, MN, CN, BN) that are going to cause a massive daisy chain. No one super promising in the 50-55 year old range.

@as good joke. Can you imagine LC presenting to the board or doing an interview with one of the major media outlets? He can barely even make it through an IT town hall with a written script to follow.

This company needs new blood and fast. MW and MN are complete disasters. EB is completely lost. The entire ELT is completely disconnected from how actual work is performed.

NH was thrown under the bus me bus and held accountable for EB mess in TCO.

AW might be good if he finds a way not to bow down to MN’s way of operating.

No viable candidates, no succession plan, but ample misplaced self-assuredness from the SLT that their leadership is strong.

One of those things is not like the other.

All the likely candidates are turning out to be duds. That's the reason MW had to extend his retirement age. Early odds-on favorite EB has turned out to be incompetent and unconvincing to Wall St., not to mention unmotivating to the average employee. Look at all her accomplishments in CTC and Tengiz!

Bring in Warren Buffett and merge with Oxy. Have him run the Company for a year or two till he appoints new Management from the outside in his image. He owns Billions in CVX he would be good for Chevron. Even Jimmy Cramer would approve of firing MW.

@cw sorry but not sorry - people at NH level had plenty of opportunities to right the ship. You can't now say he could have been the knight in shining armor

Wished NH had not left. The rest of the management team are feckless, shameful, superficial, and spineless.

Whoever it is, I would hope they’d be more concerned about the company’s performance versus making sure the mean posts about them on here are taken down or downvoted. Great way to spend your time, when you’re not golfing. He knows who he is. Clown.

It’s LC the CIO.
He grew his EY empire from almost non-existent to almost $100M. He got rid of AG and RS and soon MC while bringing his all his outsiders at higher levels than asset and ops managers.
It’s quite clear that the board is looking at him for CEO because no leader in Chevron has ever done what he’s done in cleaning house and bringing in executives who outrank the business leaders. That’s the curveball.

@ag "very unlikeable"

And which one is "likeable"? They are ALL phony and all cut from the same cloth. Never worked in the field, cannot relate to those that have, and they are all appointed.

They've been grooming EB for the role but she's proving very unlikeable so they may change course
