Why are Senior Executives being held accountable?

So many strategic mistakes, so much waste and loss, and yet nobody is holding senior execs responsible or accountable? Why is this the case?

There is no clear strategy.

Every time I see JC talk I wonder how the he-l is he a c-suite executive. Today was more of the same. He comes across like he took a bo-g hit before getting on stage. His pep talk of "win!" "take share" and "losing su-ks" sounds like a middle school football coach, and he offers no actual insight into what our strategy is to do this, what actual work is he and his team putting in to gain share in areas like storage and CSG.

If all the business units under him are failing (outside of AI), at what point is he ever held accountable? I mean, don't forget, our FY26 strategy was "do the same thing as last year." That's certainly a strategy worthy of his millions in yearly compensation.

You are looking from the outside in. You have no idea what they've been told to do. For all we know, they are doing exactly what they are told to do.

I think you're looking at it in the wrong way.
In cooked corpo, senior execs are there just to cover the a-s of ELT.
They get fired when C-levels are directly under scrutinity for important failures/mistakes, so that they can blame someone one step below and avoid accountability.
They don't get big salaries just because they manage departments, but also (and maybe mainly) to take the bullet for their boss.

Biggest joke was with Chuck Whitten joining Dell Technologies in August 2021 he was paid $5M in cash signing bonus and $45M in equity awards (RSUs with five-year vesting). As part of his separation he took $19M of the $45M RSUs he received..

What did he do in those 2 years?? His real accomplishments was driving APEX performance, which we all know how that worked out.

@OP A lot of VPs and SVPs that were here 4 years ago are no longer here.

It is the first time in my Dell career that so many senior leaders were let go / retired vs just front line people.

Because they have power and know people in the board of directors and they won't take the blame. That's how it is for all US corporations.
