Layoffs

Will there be layoffs in January? If so, which areas will be subject to Cecere's Cleaver this time?

Yes. Absolutely. This is a big organization and layoffs happen every single month. It’s an ongoing adjustment because of a lot of variables. It’s not ideal and I don’t like it. But every month there are layoffs.

@cr+1jgw4ebpv "What does spans and layers mean?"

"Spans and layers are components of organizational structure that can significantly impact an organization’s efficiency and effectiveness. Spans refer to the number of subordinates or employees that report directly to a manager, while layers refer to the number of hierarchical levels or management tiers within the organization."

In other words corporate BS for simplifying the organizational chart by putting an overlord at the top and lots of servile peons serving them faithfully.

I’m aware of upcoming RIF in the next few weeks but not sure how widespread this will be.

FTE per people leader; they’ll primarily look at people leaders with a small number of direct reports and consolidate hierarchy to get cleaner average FTEs

They are eliminating “spans and layers” but on a department by department basis. So if it hasn’t happened yet in your org it will this year.
