a couple week after my kids school shutdown 2 years ago I got on next door and found a college student who was also home and took care of my kids. I'd suggest looking for a nanny, if you have more than 1 kid a nanny may be cheaper than childcare. I feel your pain but just like before COVID you'll need to figure it out. you could always bring your kids to the office with you and put them in a flex cube for the day.

Did you forget Covid-19 occurred and childcare facilites shut down and some did not recover? Even a WF economist is highlighting the issue. You probably don't even work at WF. You have the right to your opinion though, but your ignorance is not welcome on this platform.

"dig in your heels and stand up against those who would mistreat you." - I'm not sure complaining on an anonymous web site counts as standing up but hey, do what you feel and how exactly is the OP being mistreated? It's a difficult situation no doubt but that's not really WF's fault.

They know...they just issued a report on this topic found in the Wells Fargo In the Press section.

People had childcare prior to Covid. Then schools closed, daycares closed, and parents needed to look after their children while also maintaining work expectations. Depending on the state, some lives returned to pre-Covid normal sooner than others. Some parents have been searching for childcare for months. It also depends on the age of the child. 2 years ago Wells Fargo didn’t care what home and work life looked like, and that certainly hasn’t changed today. Their decisions show how out of touch they are with the people within the company. Attempts to make our voices heard have been unsuccessful. I don’t see a solution either.

Have they not been in childcare for the past two years? Or are these new children becoming of childcare age? We've had our two kids in childcare like there wasn't a pandemic. I feel the same way OP.

The lack of childcare is one of the primary reasons for the deceased labor force and the fact that we see "help wanted" signs everywhere.

Just face it, everything is in a state of chaos now. Nobody is happy. Such is life I guess. Do what you can and keep moving forward.

Agree with OP. Fu-k RTO and the executive sc-m pushing for it. I plan on spending my 3 days a week in the office looking for a new job where I can WFH.

Before some folks start blasting my post, I am willing to return to the office. I'm not whining about returning to the office. This is not a 'Woe unto Me" moment. This is real life.
I'm doing my job unlike some folks claiming to 'work from home'. I make important decisions for the bank while working more than an 8-hour day.

At no point has management or the executive teams ask employees their comfort level or are there any extenuating circumstances that need to be factored in.

Adequate childcare is a very real crisis. Capacity is not there and costs have increased significantly. It should be viewed as a societal problem. It's a struggle for many throughout US.

There will be more forced out as jobs change too. Many departments are being closed or partially closed and employees are being forced into call center jobs and given hours that do not allow them to care for their children at all.

I'm sure they will bend over backwards to accommodate parents. They always do. The people without children are always left to work holidays and last minute overtime.
