I think people of all ages can agree that at a high level it feels like this world is split between Millennials and everyone else. When did it happen? When did everything change so dramatically in how people see business and the world ?

Just a reminder. I’m a millennial, and I’m 37. I did not grow up with an iPad, I had a rotary phone on the wall for several years, these things are very different. Some millennials are in their 40s, all are at least 25.
Every single person who works for me is a boomer or gen x, all of whom have talked about lazy millennials at some point or another.
Do all boomers act like this? No. Nor are all millennials self righteous, participation trophy owning, lazy, or liberal.
Stop generalizing and get over yourselves, and that goes to all generations.

I hate to tell you, young Padawan, but Boomers had to work their way up the ladder as well and dealt with the no experience/ they want experience too problem as well. This isn’t unique to your generation.
I went through things in my first job that would make you curl up in the corner and die. No participation trophies or helicopter parents back then. You had to be tough and have a thick skin to survive and they would literally make you pack your things and get out if you failed rather than accept mediocrity.
Aim your arrows at the elite 1% that created the mess this country is in rather than the whole generation. We think their decisions suck too.
Good luck to you. You’ll need it. I wouldn’t want to start a career now that could be sent to India with a snap of Charlie’s fingers.

I'm Gen X. My son is 19. He's owned two cars since he turned 17, not a dime from me. He busted his bu-t for it. Now he had a daily driver and a 2 seater convertible for nice weather days. He's in college, at a frat, on the Dean's list. He had no interest in politics. Just a goal to finish college with an engineering degree.
And he is not any different than his friends. They are all hard working kids who are all going into engineering.
I look forward to his future. If there are really tons of young ones getting useless degrees, it makes the job market easier for my son.

Maybe step back and look at the bigger picture.
If you don't have the same opportunity as us boomers, that's a real issue.
But when I was young my parents and grandparents had more than I, so what generation has all the money is a bit of a distraction.
Hard to say Class or generation but we can reasonable say that GenX and Boomers have 98% of the money so that could explain division there whereas most all Millennials have no work ethic and are entitled.

Completely agree I do not speak for all Boomers. I can however confidently dispute any self esteem issues. I am proud of what I have accomplished and did not have to insult, hurt, offend or otherwise step on anyone to ensure I always took care of myself. Also, not intending to "flex", but share there is another side to all the negativity on this site. Some people need to hear that you can still be successful and happy while working for Corporate America.
Marketing focuses almost exclusively on millennials now, not because of anything about them as a group but because of the phase of life they’re in.
Building careers, starting families, buying homes, planning for college for their kids and retirement for themselves - all of this makes them the bank customers to lock in now.
Boomers are either wealth customers or not. If they’re not they’re not worth bothering with.
I'm a GenX'er, and I don't think too highly of diversity anymore. It's too much "in your face", and the systematic implication that white somehow equals "wrong" or "bad".

GenX here. I think both the before and after generations are scre**ed up. Boomers can't handle diversity and change in general and millennials have no work ethic and are extremely entitled.
It was good for awhile but we are all in trouble now.

Well this Boomer can happily say I will be sitting back laughing with my large bank account and very comfortable life style. I am not an executive but I worked hard and made things happen for myself and I was both patient and reasonable with my expectations when I needed to be. When all goes to cr-p once the Millennials get their way, I will have both my money and the free-ride society is trying to create. Problem that the Millennials won't accept because it means they have to work, there is not enough for a free ride for everyone. Once you pass all these new laws and social policies the country will fall. I will be a very rich person in a 3rd world country.

There are actually some studies coming out linking the high lead car exhaust in the air when boomers were young children, to the kind of sociopathy and difficulty parsing reality you can see in @plu+1cxWnVUY ‘s post, for example.
So yeah even though they can be severely off base, and it can be fun to rib em for it, it’s wrong to demonize them for something that boils down to neurological issues that are no fault of their own. Problem with your analysis is that not many young people are going into computers or engineering because they saw their parents lose their jobs to India over the years. So smart people are going into other fields instead.

@vhi+1cxWnVUY - While it might be harder to advance in a low-paying field, it's also easier to land a $200K/yr job fresh out of college. If you're a lit or philosophy major (or skip college altogether) it's tough sledding out there. If you study computer science or engineering you'll have plenty of opportunity to make a good living.
Once you land a job, then it comes down to the choices you make. Older generations tended to understand the need to save money, invest, and live within your means. They played the long game. Today's young adults seem to want instant gratification. If they "invest", they're betting money on the latest meme stock or in crypto. That strategy might work out for some. Most will be disappointed.
