Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

VACCINATION SURVEY AND RTO

To be clear, this is not a another post about the vaxed vs unvaxed debate. It’s a free country and people should make the choice that’s right for them and their families. This post is about THE SURVEY. I know a few individuals working on the RTO project. They tell me it’s creating major headaches that Wells Fargo has so many employees that are either unvaxed or refusing to share that information on the survey. For those of us (everyone I know) who has no interest in RTO anytime soon, PLEASE PLEASE continue to refuse to answer the survey. It’s making their RTO plans near impossible to implement. Again, if you want to get vaccinated, go ahead. Just don’t let Wells know that you are. Don’t believe me, just ask all the angry BAML employees being forced to return next week with Delta surging because they were stupid enough to trust their employer and the scumbag executives that run it. Pass this along to all your friends and co-workers. The company has yet to mandate vaccinations and they cannot compel you to disclose your vaccination status. TELL THEM NOTHING BECAUSE YOU OWE THEM NOTHING. LONG LIVE WFH!!!!

@2pzz+1cG67p4e where did I say that?

And FYI, we deal with secondhand smoke by not letting smokers smoke around us anymore.

Whereas the anti-vaxxers think they can roam amongst the sane people and believe it's some kind of weird right the founding fathers promised them.

COVID, especially the Delta variant, is highly communicable and analogies are hard.

Relax….RTO most likely getting pushed to Jan 2022 like everywhere else.

@2ddt you're arguing that second-hand smoke is not communicable?

I suggest you reread the definition of communicable.

Smoking is not a communicable disease.

If you won't get vaxxed, stay away from everyone else and you'll be fine.

If you get sick and die, that's your choice.

We'll add you to the list of Freedumb Cadavers while we all get back to our lives.

The closest equivalent I can think of is smoking. Tobacco products are taxed to reduce their consumption, smoking is generally banned in enclosed public places, and smokers are often charged more for certain things like health and life insurance. This is all in the service of community health, and everyone -- including most smokers -- is okay with it, even when secondhand smoke probably wouldn't be considered as immediately dangerous as COVID.

I'm personally okay with folks choosing not to vaccinate for whatever reason, but I believe there should be considerations for community health; for example, perhaps the unvaccinated are ranked lower during triage or pay more for health/life insurance or above all other people must wear masks (and properly!).

If the smoking analogy isn't persuasive enough, perhaps security checkpoints will be. Since we're all personally responsible and none of us would deliberately harm our fellow passengers, I say let's dispense with the TSA; after all, there's not been a te------t incident since 9/11 (which will be twenty years ago this coming Saturday), and citizens should be able to enjoy their personal freedom without being subjected to scans, pat downs, and searches of their personal belongings.

Someone show me where in the US Constitution it says you have the right to spread your diseases to other people.

Seems lots of us need remedial biology and civics classes.

My understanding, based solely on what I've heard from the rumor mill, is that RTO was put off two weeks not because of COVID but because CPG didn't have the sites quite ready.

I’ve been FT WFH for 5 years. I’m now going to be required to RTO a minimum of 3 days a week. I’m in a business support role, not customer facing, and am not located near a hub. I’ve been told RTO is required so I can collaborate with my team. Trouble is, no one on my team or business will be in the office location. And I’ll add, my performance is not an issue. It doesn’t make a ton of sense.

I also have thought it could change what you pay for health insurance. They have to be working on packages right now since November typically is the month health care selection takes place.

Your company is allowed by law to know your vaccination status, that's been decided for the last 100 years or so.

Like medical advice, maybe don't get your law advice from a layoff rumor website that's been overrun with fringe weirdos.

Having a hard time understanding why anyone would be upset at what the OP is suggesting here. They never said not to get vaccinated or even suggested anyone should lie about it. They just said not to share that information with Wells Fargo which is our right as employees. If that leads to the firm delaying RTO than I for one am all for it.

@OP. You own them nothing and they own you even less. Go ahead and not show up for work when you are supposed to do. Don’t just hide behind a nameless post and talk big. Just do it

Does anyone know why they only postponed RTO 2 weeks this time around? Seems asinine to bring us back right in the heart of flu season. Why can’t they just push back to January like so many others have already done? Or just push back indefinitely until we finally get this virus under control.

@1ttq+1cG67p4e. It’s not your decision if you can wfh or not. But it’s 100% up to you if you want to find another job that allow you to wfh. Don’t worry about losing talents They don’t pay you enough to do that nor it’s your job description. Empty threats do not work. Just leave all of you and see if anyone cares!

phintowin - I applaud you and the other branch workers who have been showing up every day.

However, you are clearly bitter against those of us who have been working remotely. My question to you is why? I’m in tech and my manager isn’t even based in the same region as me or many of my other colleagues. Does forcing us into the office during a pandemic somehow make you feel better? If the pandemic has taught us anything it’s that companies can function just fine with employees working remotely. I’m sorry that your job doesn’t allow you that flexibility. If that makes you unhappy perhaps you should explore other options.

This is BS all the employees in the branches have been going to work EVERY SINGLE DAY. Many are not vaccinated. The selfishness of all you WFH people is astounding. I bet you are all going out to eat, shopping and socializing with friends and family. Its only at the office where you are at risk. Yeah sure.

Regarding RTO just thinking what else my RN ICU nurse daughter with a Masters degree told me on arriving home to her house and family tonight after a 13 hour shift at the VERY wealthy hospital in NC. It was that she said "don't get sick", there are no ICU hospital beds available in her hospital right now, or any other hospitals in the near area, because they are all now full of dying unvaccinated Covid patients. And the hospitals are also running out of needed equipment to care for the Covid patients. Delaying RTO at Wells Fargo seems prudent at the present time. Tell the story to the Wells upper Management.

Funny how the unvaxxed stayed quiet until they are told to vax. That goes to tell you that we cannot really know how much opposition there is against the vaccine until somebody decides to mandate the vax. Glad people are finally speaking up.

Even California has decided to pull back the mandate in the midst of Newsom recall, hoping to help Newsom. Goes to show you that at the end of the day, it's all about politics and not safety.

I have been avoiding completing the survey hoping this was true. At any rate, I doubt if I will ever disclose my status. I was thinking they would send everybody back to the office regardless of status and make mask mandatory and try to space everyone out throughout the office. Because regardless of vaccination status, you can still get sick from COVID. Whenever they decide to send us back to the office, it will be the start of a super spreader event and half the office will end up back home sick.

They may be coming back regardless….at some point in time. However, OP is correct in that this another way for those of us with legitimate concerns about RTO can help to delay the process. Frankly, it should never have come to questionable methods such as this in the first place. If WF listened to their employees it’s pretty clear there is overwhelming demand for more flexibility/remote work. I agree with the poster who mentioned we need a complete overhaul of our leadership team with younger executives who understand that the old ways of doing things are just that….the old ways. It’s time for a change.

All this arguing is unnecessary and completely avoidable. Treat employees like adults. If they prefer to WFH and have proven they can be effective then let them. If not, insist they RTO or show them the door. There is no right way or wrong way to do things. Different strokes for different folks. I for one can’t imagine ever going back to an office 5 days a week. But my husband prefers it, says he’s less distracted and doesn’t mind the commute. Why not let adults be adults and do what works for them. Let their performance on the job speak for itself.

So everyone thinks they're Che Guevara now? Pretty funny. Seems we've reached the bottom of the barrel with the childish / selfish behavior. This will just force the banks hand and we'll all have to prove vaccination. Easy enough to figure out what the consequences of not doing it will be. Silly rabbits.

My wife works for BAML in Charlotte. She entered her status in the portal and is now “invited” to RTO. Needless to say she is none too pleased. Especially since the majority of her colleagues never entered their info in the portal and can continue to WFH which sh e would strongly prefer. Her manager is sympathetic but says his hands are tied. She is currently in the interview process with two other firms offering remote work and/or hybrid arrangements. Fingers crossed.

Any company not moving to WFH or hybrid model moving forward is signing their own death certificate. I manage a small team in CIB operations and I can tell you that it is near impossible to recruit anyone under the age of 30. One of the first questions we get in any interview is about flexible work arrangements. It’s no longer considered a perk but an expectation for the younger generation.

Of course they can't lay off "everyone" who doesn't respond. It just makes it easier to sort the layoff wish lists from the managers, the next time the call goes out. Non-responders first. Check!

This firm just replicates what the next guy does, least it run afoul going outside the norms. Once Corp America says Jan 15th, 90% will say Jan 15th. Ever wonder why 95% of the photos on teamworks are black executives and black people who win best employee of the year, its because 90% of Corp America is doing it.
